Liberty Mountain Resort is located in Carroll Valley, Pennsylvania, just off Rt. 15 over the Maryland border. Liberty is only 60 miles from the Baltimore and D.C. beltways, making it one of the most popular resorts close to D.C. Like all resorts in the area, Liberty is lit for night skiing, and trails are covered by 100% snowmaking.
Liberty offers 16 trails served by 8 chairlifts, with terrain suitable for all levels of skiers and boarders, plus 14 snow tubing lanes and a carpet lift servicing the tubing park. The Liberty Mountain Hotel offers slopeside lodging and ski and stay packages. The lodge also offers free wireless Internet access. After a day of skiing, visitors can relax in front of the fireplace in the main lodge, or in McKee’s Tavern, which features sit down dining and live entertainment.
Over the past several years, Liberty has invested millions of dollars integrating automated snowmaking into their systems. For the 2019-2020 winter season, Liberty built a new pumphouse near its main snowmaking pond. The upgrade increased the amount of water that can be pumped to snowguns across the mountain.
Liberty’s beginner area, complete with two moving carpet lifts, is home to the award-winning First Class Learn to Ski and Snowboard and Mountain Passport programs. The area also includes Snow Cat Alley, an area specifically designed for children’s programs.
Liberty is now part of the Vail Resorts family after a 2019 purchase. Previously, it was owned by Peak Resorts, and before that, Snow Time. Its new ownership means you can purchase a single Epic pass and ski at Whitetail, Liberty, Roundtop, Jack Frost, Big Boulder, and dozens of resorts across North America.

May 16, 2024 - The snow may have melted, but Pennsylvania’s Liberty Mountain Resort plans to stay busy through the summer season with a variety of on-mountain events including a wine festival and weekly music series.
March 21, 2024 - Vail Resorts has begun selling its line of Epic Pass products for the 2024/2025 winter season, even as lifts continue running at many of its properties across the U.S. A range of passes is available to Mid-Atlantic skiers and boarders including the Epic Pass, Epic Local Pass, Northeast Value Pass, and Epic Day Pass.
