Author thumbnail By M. Scott Smith, DCSki Editor

Elk Mountain has continued its tradition of planting Norway and White Spruce trees, adding an additional 1,200 trees over the summer. Over 14,000 trees have been planted since the mid 1980s.

Elk Mountain has also made snowmaking enhancements for the 2011-2012 winter season, adding three new airless guns, and an additional 23 airless snow gun electric pedestals on the Lenape, Wissahickon, and Snow Bowl trails. A new grooming tractor, purchased at the end of last season, will help groom the snow.

The Picnic Lodge has been remodeled with a new floor and paint, and additional equipment has been added to the rental shop.
