Cool temperatures. A landscape full of golden hues. Fall has arrived, bringing a fantastic display of foliage and the promise of a ski season just around the corner.

Local ski resorts are joining in the Fall festivities by offering an array of events. October 25-26, 2014, Pennsylvania’s Whitetail Mountain Resort will hold its annual Great Outdoors Festival, featuring pony rides, paintball, archery, a petting zoo, eating contests, and much more. Chairlift rides will be offered to the top of the mountain.

Seven Springs Resort will be holding a Kids’ Halloween Weekend October 25-26, 2014 with musical entertainment and novelty acts, an arts and crafts bazaar, and more.

Before you pull out your ski and snowboard boots, pull out your hiking boots and head to the mountains to take in the fall colors.

Leaves at Virginia’s Shenandoah National Park are expected to be near their prime leading up to the weekend of October 25-26.

Scott, your colorful photos show that not all of autumn's color-rich sights come from tree leaves.  October 2014 has really come through!

Thanks for the article and photographs.
