Located in the scenic and snowy Allegheny Mountains of West Virginia, Canaan Valley Resort is taking advantage of its 180-inches of average snowfall to add some glade skiing. Over the summer, Canaan Valley Resort has cut three glade skiing trails in the eastern part of the mountain, located between the Prosperity and Dark Side of the Moon black diamond runs.

“Canaan Valley Resort State Park is one giant playground, and the glories of winter can be experienced in many ways by visitors of all ages, interests and physical abilities,” said Steve Drumheller, general manager of Canaan Valley Resort. “And regardless of whether our guests are skiing, tubing, ice skating or even relaxing in the lounge and watching the fun, they will be treated to the breathtaking beauty of the Allegheny Mountains in winter,” he added.

Guests who haven’t been to Canaan Valley Resort in awhile will find a rejuvenated resort, thanks to the recent completion of a two-year, $34 million renovation project that included renovation of guests rooms and the main lodge.

In addition to a variety of winter activities located at the resort, natural snowfall means activities such as cross country skiing are also located nearby. Canaan Valley Resort’s ski school provides instruction in telemark skiing as well as skiing and snowboarding.

Weather conditions permitting, Canaan Valley Resort is aiming to open for the 2015-2016 winter season on Friday, December 18.
