I hate to bring up this subject especially with current excellent coverage at most places, but for planning purposes it might be good to know any announced closing dates. If you know please post in this thread.

That would be consistent for the value season range posted on their website.
Timberline, Sun 3/30 is the scheduled date. Snowmobile races scheduled for the first weekend in April.

I hope they make it. I see they are blowing snow on skidder tonite.
Hidden Valley was not open Mon, Tue and Wed this week. I would guess that will remain the case until they close for good. Too bad b/c my son was hoping to take some friends up there during their spring break this week and introduce them to skiing / boarding when the rates were low and crowds would be nil.
Hidden Valley is suppose to re open Thursday and be open normal hours thru Sunday then who knows after that.

Thanks for adding - after reading my post it looks like I was saying they were closed for good.

With the base that some of the other mid atlantic (PA/MD) resorts still have that are right around the end of their season it would be nice (and quite surprising) to see some of them blow some snow tonight to see if they can save what will be a solid coat of ice for the rest of the season after the quick freeze that is going to occur tonight, and to at least make for a nice weekend. Based on webcams (and last weekends conditions) if they play thier cards right there is no reason they can't pull off 2 more weeekends.
7springs is going to be open 9-4 Monday to Thursday next week. I beleive normal hours 3/21,3/22, 3/23. Then closed the following weekdays and open again 3/29 and 3/30. Possible open 4/5 and 4/6 but don't coun't on it.
This isn't set in stone but, pretty sure that's how 7springs will end.
-----
Boyce Park will have a pond skim/rail jam on 3/16 to end the season.
Massanutten is planning to stretch to March 23. Night skiing only on Friday and Saturday nights. The big terrain park is closed, but now there are features on Pacesetter.
Free skiing for military folks and their families on March 16. Temperature down in the 20s tonight after a few pretty warm days.
Edit: Wow! Mnut is blowing snow tonight!
And at the base of Ballhooter, and I suspect on a lot of other places! Snowshoe the best at making and keeping snow!
I'm planning on going to liberty or whitetail tomorrow am. I would like to ski mainly blues and blacks and will probably leave by 12:30-1. Which one would you recommend based on the forecast or should both be decent in the am?
Conditions should be great for March at either area. It's suppose to be warmer and sunny tomorrow and Liberty's trails are better protected from the sun, so I'd give Liberty the edge. But, both should be good through early afternoon.
So take conditions out of the equation and pick the place you'd like to ski most. I personally prefer Liberty as I find their trail layout has a bit more variety than Whitetail, but others really like Whitetail for the extra vertical.
When does Holiday Valley normally close? I am trying to find a place I could go for the weekend the second week of April. I fear that I won't find anything within driving distance from Columbus Ohio that meets this.
Whitetail will be open through Sunday, March 30. They will close at 5:00 PM on Monday, March 24 -Thursday, March 27. On Friday and Saturday, March 28-29, Whitetail hours will be the usual, 8:30 AM - 10:00 PM. On Sunday, March 30, Whitetail will close for the season at 5:00 PM.
Wintergreen announced daily skiing through March 30!!! Then a one day reopen on Sat April 6!
Thanks Wintergreen!!!

Does anybody know whether T-line will be open on the weekdays leading up to their projected closing day of March 31?
Thanks, Woody
Liberty and roundtop are done after Sunday, which is really too bad because at least liberty could make it through the 30th and then some, because they still have a pretty solid base as of last night. That being said there may have been 50 people (I would guess closer to 30) there last night, and most were there for the college night. So however much I enjoyed having the mountain to myself, I can understand that they are running at a loss at this point.
Guess I might be skiing whitetail one last time if things hold up for the 30th there.
As of March 20: WOW !! Massnutten web site indicates daily operations through March 30!!!

I haven't heard of any mid-week closing plans for next week. And nothing on their FB page.

I saw that. Great news!
@KenHess: I am a passholder so when I go next week I won't be contributing to your bottom line via a lift ticket sale, but I'll be sure to stop by for a beer or a burger.
WGO - THANKS, we're also offering 50% off lift tickets for passholders from any other resort through closing.
Just saw that on your web page. Will definitley be there next week. Hopefully after some new snow on Tues or Wed.
Bryce just announced it will be open daily through Sat march 29!!!
in VA three resorts remain open next week: Bryce, Wintergreen and Massanutten. I can not recall this ever happening before the last week of March. What a season in the Mid-A.
From the manager at Timberline Resort:
"They will close for the season on Mar 30th", then re-open for a single day event: the Snowmobile Race, taking place on April 5th 2014. Skiers, Boarders, and Telemark skiers are usually not allowed on the slopes during the race - LIFTS WILL NOT TAKE SKIERS up.
As different as it seems, I assure you that they have a blast !
Update from 7springs "We will be open this week from 9am - 4pm.. so come on up and enjoy our snowy slopes! "
I am thinking that means
9-4pm 3/24 to 3/30 (seems like they should have more hours next weekend though).
Hoping to hit Massanutten and maybe Wuntergreen on Thurs & Friday. Anybody else going to be there?
Very glad Massanutten stayed open another week. Especially that they stayed open daily. Must have at least 4 inches from the storm, and it wasn't wet at all. Temps stayed cold so should be really good Wednesday, March 26 too before it warms up.
Top of Lift 6 around 1pm. Kept snowing lightly until 4pm or so.
Really great day skiing at M'nut with MarzNC. I only got to ski from 2:30 - 4:30 but even getting there as late as I did, there was plenty of fresh snow - I was making turns in 4+ inches of fresh on every run. A really great second-to-last day of the season for me.
'
7springs will be closed Monday-Friday. Probally Open 9-5 Saturday and Sunday (4/5-4/6) with about 50%-75% of slopes open,
Edit: Looks like snowshoe is doing the same thing. Calling 4/5-4/6 a "bonus weekend"
Snowshoe announced reopening next weekend 3 weeks ago, Wintergreen did likewise although they will be open on Sat only.
Just announced on Snowshoe's Facebook:
" Wow, what a terrific winter! Unfortunately all good things must come to an end.
Summer is moving in fast! The past weekend’s rain, coupled with a five day forecast calling for temperatures in the high-60’s, has forced us to reconsider plans to re-open for a final weekend of skiing and snowboarding on April 5th and 6th. We want nothing but the best experience waiting for you when you get here. Looking at the weather, we can see the outlook for the upcoming weekend falls well short of that.
Thanks for an great season and we look forward to seeing you this summer. "
As I said on another thread, forecast this week looks bleak for Mid-Atlantic skiing. So as of today, only Seven Springs and Wintergreen have a possibility of opening at some point next weekend. I suspect they won't, but we'll see.
Could be a muddy mess at the snowmobile races Sat at T-Line. Motor-powered dirt chickens...
April skiing at Wintergreen:

Bummer. No pond skim this year for us.

I really hope the snowmobile race goes well...I'd hate for TL mgmt to think they need to move next year's race to an earlier weekend.

There would be an absolute revolt if they tried to do that.
thank goodness for waxless uphill ski's..... Timberline has so much snow top to bottom on every trail that it will be a cross-country downhill private idaho for the next month :)

Only problem is that you have to go downhill on the waxless uphill skis. ;)
Not a problem. In good soft snow the scales disappear. They do buzz on groomed man made snow.
I just looked at the Seven Springs webcams. Coverage looks really good to me. What do you guys think the chances are that they will open this weekend? It does look warm and rainy this week after Tuesday, but I can't tell if it will be a hit and miss affair or a 12 hour soaker.

Check out these bad boys....WG had a few pairs on the rental rack this winter, and chipper left a pair at tline ski school bootup a few weeks ago with yuvagi but I don't think anyone tried em.

A nice big April snow would be sweet. Anyone know if Lake Erie is still ice covered?
Any plans for a Ski at Five? I'm still looking to get my first day of the season on some XC skis.

I don't know about lake erie being covered, but I can tell you tline is covered! Doubtful there will be much organization to skiing these days. Usually it's a spur of the moment thing for the handful who like to get out there and usually centered around doggies :)
People already riding bikes in Davis!
7springs is open 10-4 Saturday and Sunday. I am riding on Sunday...which should be the last day of the season. Looking forward to it.
My question is...Will anybody in the Mid Alantic be open after 4/6?

'Looks like the Mid-A ski season has come to an end. Camelback and Seven Springs had their last days on Sunday 4/6.
Doesn't look like there was enough snow at Timberline to ski this past weekend anyway....
The sad part is that is about how many people were there on March 30, a powder day, the last day of the ski season.
we waited for the lifts to start up at canaan, but decided just to ski instead!
Chaga does the current management care if folks skin up at Canaan (and ski down)? I know they don't care at Timberline but would like to check on Canaan.

I don't know. I've never been bothered and don't know anyone that has. Though this time of year there is maybe 10 locals at most that still ski till it's gone
Blue Mtn. in PA is open this weekend. Season passholders from other resorts ski for free.

I missed that one, SCWVA. It ain't over 'til it's over.
Sounds like a good deal.

Yeah could be pretty soon though. Tline was still offing the 'bring your own' lift special this past weekend. Pretty serene and relaxed out there on the mountain just how we like it. You could almost say skiing has gone to the dogs these days :)
Might get some freshies this week!?!
Chaga,
Got some laps in at Tline on Friday. I was amazed how much snow was left. The Drop still has some bumps. Basically, top to bottom skiing. I bet if Management had pushed a little snow around, they could have openned back up this past weekend.
Wisp still has a ton of snow as well. The Face looked sweet.
A skiff of snow only made the edges look whiteish on Wedensday. Took a spin on Tline, hard freeze the night before did not help at all but if you don't go ya do not know. Waited till 3ish for things to warm up to 40F. Slepped up via Race course/Thundrballs, mostly frozen sun cupps/coral reefr/cheese grater with a few soft patches. Climbing good, ski down not so much. Worth it for the workout, still nice day.
