Martin Ski Tow

Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania

Mark G. was going through old business cards and found one for Martin Ski Tow, possibly from the 1950s or earlier. Martin Ski Tow was located on Route 19 four miles south of Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania. According to the business card, the ski area offered an open slope, a quarter-mile tow, and night skiing.

The "Washington Interurban Car Line" was cut back to Drake in 1953, placing that card some time before 1953. Right in the middle of Upper St Clair. It figures.

Very interesting. The Orchard stop would have been close to the current intersection of Boyce Rd. and Route 19. A 1953 US topo map shows what could be a southern facing ski slope cut through the forest near present-day Pinetree and Gloucester Drives in Upper Saint Clair.
