Ski Big Bear at Masthope Mountain is a relatively small ski area located in Pennsylvania, right by the Delaware River and just across the border from New York state. Ski Big Bear caters to families and is a great resort for first-time skiers and boarders. Lift tickets are also relatively inexpensive at Big Bear. There are also four cross-country ski trails located in the Masthope Mountain Community near Big Bear.
Ski Big Bear has a terrain park for snowboarders and also has a snow tubing area.

December 1, 2006 at 4:07 pm When I first saw this I thought it was Big Bear CA, a good place in the San Gabriel mtns. of So. CA east of LA.
http://www.bigbear.com/ It doesn't matter to me but isn't there a national registry of business names and laws like copyright laws to support their exclusivity? Big Bear, CA has a majority of snowboarders on most days so I rode my board while there. There is a Bear Valley ski area further north in CA, not too far from Tahoe, that is reputed to have some great steep terrain that is easily accessed off the back side. It's on my list. December 1, 2006 at 9:32 pm Trademark law prevents two companies from having the same name if (1) they offer similar services and (2) are located in the same geography. The only way that ski areas get away with this is based on condition 2, but even then that's borderline. If a mid-Atlantic resort decided to change their name to Vail, I'm sure the lawsuits would start flowing, since Vail is considered a destination resort that draws clientele from all across the country (and world) -- plus, Vail has lots of lawyers! :)
There are several other resorts that share names: you would not believe how many Hidden Valley ski resorts there are. There's our local PA one, of course, plus one in New Jersey, Missouri, and Canada. There's a Shawnee Mountain in the Poconos, and a Shawnee Peak in Maine. Comments on Big Bear - posted by Denis

Shawnee in Maine used to be called Pleasant Mountain. I skied there in college in the early 60s. It was pleasant, catching lots of sun. We used to do it the second day of a weekend with Wildcat being the first. It was a piece of cake after Wildcat, as well as a lot warmer. Comments on Big Bear - posted by Denis

February 13, 2007 at 8:13 pm I love ski big bear in the poconos. It always is fun to ski there and meet up with freinds. My favorite trail is screamen demon.Ski big bear is 1.
