Great report!
My first time at Elk was on the way to Lake Placid with my daughter. It was 9 degrees when we arrived and didn't get much warmer by the time we left. Seeing the standing shuttle was a surprise. It was a very cold ride with a tween. There had been new snow and the access road was snow covered. I had to get a running start to get up the hill in my NC front-wheel drive minivan. The guys in the big AWD SUV didn't bother . . . and got stuck when they started sliding back.
