We don't have a photo of the day thread on this board, or did I miss something. I'm going to start with a few from the last few weeks, hopefully others will also share!

great shot! I loved bumps - in a former life.
On Sat 2/5 the snowguns were running all day, so we were able to ski in some nice, regular lines.
C'mon & hang out if you feel like moguls in the current stage of life. We have peeps from 10-70+ in the group :)

Hey John, that snow looks pretty good at Middlebury! Do they give a discount for alumni :-)

wow, you guys are taking some great photos. I have to go back to January 5 for this one -- heavy snow at Copper between Sierra and Rendezvous.

Upper Hunzinker at Taos Ski Valley, Feb. 7, 2022. There was 37 inches of fresh snow 4-5 days before from a 48-hour storm.
Apologize in advance for some non-ski photos. I took a break from skiing last week and spent a few days in San Diego and Las Vegas.
11 Feb 22 beach walk near San Diego with my older brother, temps this day reached 82 degres. Hadn't seen him since 2019, a lot of crazy stuff has gone down since then!
14 Feb 22, view of Hoover Dam, NV-AZ from Pat TIllman bridge, this is a pano and may expand if you click on it?
Also 14 Feb 22, Zion National Park, Kolob Canyon, UT. This view awaits only five miles from Interstate 15.

I love how in every photo or even movie/tv scene of a SoCal beach, there are ALWAYS surfers n the water
Even us powderhounds love a good rip on some corduroy every now and then. 2/20/2022 Soaring eagle
This is a photo I took on 1 Feb 22, the helicopter traffic was so frequent that day in Snowbird's Mineral Basin that I was motivated to take a photo.
Apparently the National Guard practices here frequently. This is the same spot, perhaps even one of the same helicopters, where the crash took place yesterday that has been widely reported in the news.

On a happier note, view of Hidden Peak from the High Baldy Traverse, 24 Feb 2022. Snow conditions are much improved here this week:

Geto Kegon Iwate, Japan. 125 over 3 feet of snow in the last week.... Unfortunately, it was wet snow, not powder but means they will have a base till May at least!
Here's what Pres. Day looked like at West Mountain, near Queensbury and Lake George, an hour drive north of Albany, NY. The trails away from the main base were still pretty empty by lunch time. West joined the Indy Pass for 2022-23. It's well run little mountain that's been around since 1961. The first season for the current owners was 2013-14. They've invested almost $20 million since then to bring it to the next level.

I skied at Aspen Highlands with about 25 friends from SkiTalk.com on Feb 28, 2022. This is the view from the top of the summit (Loge) chair lift with Highland Bowl in background, yes that's WV Jimmy on the far left:
To the right in the above photo is the Highlands Ski Patrol "Shack". This is the view from the back deck, it's got to be one of the best views from any patrol shack in the USA, photo taken same day 28 Feb 2022, Highland Bowl left, Pyramid Peak center, Maroon Bells right:
Holiday Valley Western NY 4 March 2022
Here are two pictures from Steamboat this week. The conditions started out with bluebird skies and a high of 30 on the first day. The conditions got worse as the week went on with temperatures 45 - 50. Friday was pretty bad with bare spots and ice. The first I've ever experienced ice like back east in Colorado. Then today we had 10 inches of snow and the top of the mountain was socked in clouds. Felt like skiing by the braille method.
John Webb from MD was a poster here years ago. Lives in CA now, mid-70s. Still skiing strong. This is from the Peruvian Gulch at Snowbird 3/12/22:

I don't recall regularly seeing hockey jerseys as skiing outer wear until about 10 years ago. I've done it from time to time since 2006 or so. I have a better parka now, so I usually wear that over top with fewer layers.

Just noticed you can see the Snowbird tram to the immediate left of John's head. This was the last day of operation for the two tram cabins. After 50 years of service they are being replaced this spring with fancy new glass ones.

Over to Breck Peak 8 at the top of Horseshoe Bowl
Great trip! Skied numerous runs on peaks 7, 8, & 9. Would have gone up Imperial lift but it was closed first day then opened for a short while 2nd day when we ended up in the bowl instead. Recorded a 108 mph wind first day which brought down many trees on the mountain and on top of roofs lower down the mountain. Also went to Steamboat for a day but it was a hard pack/ice front side with some surface snow on the backside but very crusty under which made the tree skiing not to enjoyable. Next time will pick better time to get to Steamboat. Mogul runs at WP were very good and discovered a lot of nice powder in the trees at Eagle Wind. Many years since I went to Breck will be returning next March for sure!

One more pic from my trip out west, the day was spent at A-Basin. This is from one of the very steep trails (Loafer) that opened in the new Beaver's area. You can see "the Professor" avalanche area in the background. Taken on 3/10.
View from Alta Lodge on April 15, 2022 after closing with groomers at work on Corkscrew (blue). Still cold snow to be found in the Wildcat trees four days after the big snowstorm dumped 15+ inches, with a bit more the next couple days.

ok.. .When someone said "I wish we'd get some snow." in December, that wasn't a request for someone to order snow on wish. :D

In contrast to Snowsmith's wet and snowy photo, here's a dry and dusty one from a few days ago taken on the drive from SLC to Mammoth Mtn.
One of the loneliest rest stops I've ever visited, somewhere in the
vicinity of Ely, NV, our highway US 6 is to the right. The presence of trees
is not to be taken for granted. This spot is about 250-300 miles from SLC, Las Vegas, and Reno, all in different directions. It was about 70 degs when photo was taken on the way to good skiing at Mammoth.
Me too. 😀
white grass, WV this past wednesday morning 4/20 before it warmed up. (Drone pic by Justin Harris) the afternoon before was awesome and was good powder till about noon on 4/20 in shaded areas. In full sun it was good until about 10am. A nice late April blessing in gods country :)
This is one of my more boring photos of the day, Snowbird 29 APR 2022. But I just spent a week and a half on the disabled list due to Covid and it felt good to get out of the house and back on snow!
Make sure you get all your vaccines and booster shots. Pretty sure those helped me and the Mrs. from getting too badly sick.
Took a hike (non-ski) up Ensign Peak today 2 May 2022 on the outskirts of Salt Lake City. Very beautiful spot, the ski areas of Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons are in the snowy mtns in background:
The summit (elevation 5417') is about 1000 vertical feet above downtown SLC.
I'm sure most of you have forgotten about skiing by now. But this morning 6 May 22 at Snowbird was a seriously sweet spring ski day. They operate from 8am to 2pm at this time of the year. I skied from 815 to 1145am. Mineral Basin (sunny backside of Snowbird) hadn't been open to the public since last Sunday. It had about 2 inches of the creamiest snow on top of a nice supportable base (not exactly corn snow, too fresh and creamy) that for about two hours was some of the most fun spring skiing I've had this year, fast and super carvable. Around 1030am Mineral Basin got too ripe, but then the terrain around the Little Cloud lift softened to the optimum and got fun and friendly too, and then The Cirque. What a day! I'm almost over with my Utah time and heading to the mid-Atlantic in a few days where I know the golf season is in full swing:-) Late spring skiing has been very nice this year in Utah.
Everything in this view of the Mineral Basin lift line was skiing like Ullr sprinkled it with whipped cream this morning.
Little Cloud bowl is snowier now than one month ago. Meanwhile down in the Salt Lake Valley it's 70+ degrees and I'm doing my apres-ski yard work in shorts.
Killington 5/7
/\ Manmade glacier at Killington!
My ski season is over. My 61st and last ski day was at Snowbird, 8 May 22. It was a very nice spring day spent with friends and family. 61 is a seasonal PR for me. Snowbird should be open for a few more weekends, but I'm heading back to the mid-Atlantic soon. Hope to be a Snowbird snowbird again next winter, God willing and the creek don't rise.
If I snap any interesting photos on the drive East, maybe I'll post a few here?
Final day of the season at Geto Kogen Japan... it is on Indy Pass if you want to come out next year! I got in over 35 days on snow this year!

The coolest car I saw on my recently completed cross-country drive, a nicely fixed up old Chevy station wagon from around 1960? This was on I40 somewhere near Nashville, TN IIRC.
1955 Chevy Nomad
Correction: '55, V8
Look at the string of enclosed car trailers ahead of him....probably going to or from a classic car show.
