Ruidoso is the nearest village people could hotel at to ski at Ski Apache in southern NM. Also home to Ruidoso Downs Horse race track - it primarily a quarter horse track and home to the world's richest quarter horse race.

Well the fires are still 0% contained with over 1400 structures burned so far - including at least one ski shop as you will see in the video
I have spent several weekends in Ruidoso both summer and winter.
Rain helped, but the fires around Rudioso are still not at all "contained." There are concerns about flash flooding in areas that were burned out.

The worst is over as far as the fires are concerned. But the damage to buildings will take years for full recovery.

The fires took out the undergrowth. Now heavy rains that would have been held back by the undergrowth are ravaging the town. It looks to be a real mess.
