How about maybe monday night, or monday afternoon or sunday morning in that order?
Your best bet is to go to Canaan Valley Ski Area. Because Canaan and Timberline are a bit of a stretch for a day trip, about 175 miles, 3.5 hours from No. VA., the Canaan Ski Area rarely has long lift lines, even on big weekends. However, do not go to Timberline, as they have really bad lines on big weekends. While Timberline is a great mountain to ski, they only have a triple and double chair serving the top.
