I'm planning on heading to Snowshoe this weekend. I was wondering if anyone knew what the quickest way to get there was from Harrisonburg, VA.

Brace yourself...lots of switchbacks....take 33 west to Seneca Rocks....take 28 south to Green Bank watch for signs to Snowshoe

recommend checking for map directions in Yahoo or another Web application

One thing with the Yahoo and Mapquest, sometimes they don't recognize Snowshoe. I just put the zip, 26209, and it gives me directions to the base of the mountain. If you can't find the directions from the base of the mountain to the top, you're in trouble.

from the 'burg, I prefer taking 42 south to 250 at churchville, then 250 West to 28 South to 66 (NOT I-66!!) West. Snowshoe is about 10 VERY curvy miles later on the right.

In good weather, it's about 2.5 hours, but that's heavily dependent on how fast you drive in mountains, and how fast the guy in front of you drives in mountains. If it's snowing, be ready to go a good bit slower.
