Anyone up for a 3700 mile road trip? That's what it would take to cover all 12 of the ski areas in the new Powder Alliance. The better known places include Snowbasin, Crested Butte, Bridger Bowl, Schweitzer.

Essentially a perk to encourage people to buy a top tier unlimited season pass at one of the places. Get 3 free days at the other 11, up to 33 lift tickets, not including Saturdays or holiday black out dates.

I recently bought an unrestricted super senior season pass at Sierra at Tahoe for the astonishingly low sum of $119. It carries the powder alliance benefit. Bought another one at Kirkwood for $369. The S @ T seemed like a no-brainer given the price and the facts that they have great tree skiing and low crowds. the two areas are also in relatively close proximity, I'll probably be staying in south lake tahoe. My daughter and family very recently moved from VT to CA. They bought their family passes at Kirkwood for next season instead of Mad River where my daughter taught for the past several seasons. On weekends ill be skiing with them but i suspect there will be many weekdays when i'll ski untracked powder in the trees at S @ T. In future seasons my extended western ski road trip, the great indulgence of my retirement, will be in Tahoe.
