Shot of a young boarder hitting some soft, but sizable moguls on Lower Eastwind trail (Liberty regulars correct me if wrong). Less than 90 minutes from downtown, Ski Liberty is a true cradle of DC area skiing. Located in south central Pennsylvania, I made my first visit there around 1968 when it was still called Charnita and have a parka patch in the attic to prove it. I recently read that the original developers in the mid '60s were Charlie and Anita Rist, hence the cute name of Charnita.

That is lower Eastwind. At one time this year, the groomers made those bumps. They have a special snowcat attachment.

For about 3 days (they made them on a Tuesday) we had perfect size and perfectly spaced bumps. I was able to ski down the middle. I felt like Johnny Mosely. After about 3 days, they started getting cut up so it was too hard to straight-line it.

One of the benefits of working at a ski resort.
