Need some detail postings!
Got my first day in on Sunday after trout fishing on Friday and avoiding rain on Saturday. Conditions were the best I've seen opening weekend for years. 14 trails, none with bare spots and coverage was tree to tree. Snow was good, some mash in a few sunny places but overall perfect for getting ski legs going. Blue-bird day helped too. Skied up to the chair most times....even on Ballhooter after lunch ;)
sounds really good, looking forward to my first day, I have mixed feelings about relying on snowmaking but given the necessity snowshoe has doubled down...

Like cheap beer...I'll take it when it's all there is.
I forgot to mention the left side of Spruce had the best snow with some soft bumps forming. Was like spring skiing but with knowledge of a full season ahead!
I must say, the manmade snow has gotten much better over the years. It felt much less distinguishable from the natural stuff than in years past.
Obviously, nothing beats the real thing, but the immitation's pretty darn good. :)
You guys should have seen the photo of the rainbow trout he caught!
Blowing trout as well , that's some serious upgrade
Fishing and skiing in the same weekend? Sounds like a winner to me!

They stopped blowing trout (stocking) early Oct.
camp 99 was opened yesterday with at least a 3’ base. Lower ballhooter and widow maker need just a bit more snow and should have no problem being open by next weekend. The difference on the X trails for soaring eagle is huge with the new snowmaking, the little side kickers are a ton of fun. Thus far the rain has been minimal.
it also looks like j-hook now has the new snow logic guns on it, so hopefully that will have better snow than in the past
