Epic Pass holders, your road trip options have just increased by two””including the pass's first Idaho destination. Starting next season, Sun Valley, Idaho, and Snowbasin, Utah will become Epic Pass partners, gaining pass holders either seven (Epic Pass) or four (Epic Local Pass) days at each resort, with 50 percent off lift tickets thereafter. The two resorts will join the pass for 2019-2020 ski season, but will remain independently owned.

Shout out for SnowBasin, which DCSkiers urged me to visit two years ago.  I did, and loved it.

Back to Utah in a couple of weeks, but this trip will stay on Ikon Pass destinations (so DV + Cottonwood Canyon resorts).

On the Sun Valley website, it's made very clear that there is only a partnership for the Epic pass and that SV will remain an independently owned ski resort.  Depending on which Epic pass, either seven or four days at partner resorts, with 50% off extra lift tickets.  Alterra offers a set number of days (7, 5), while MCP is fewer days (2, maybe 3) with 50% off additional days.

Interesting to see Vail Resorts adding "partners" for Epic that are not interested in being purchased.  The list is up to three in the U.S.: Telluride, Sun Valley, Snowbasin.  Plus RCR's locations in Canada (Fernie, Kicking Horse, etc.) and Hakuba in Japan.

Feels like Snowbasin will be less crowded with travelers than it has been with the MCP.  Don't think people who use Epic at Park City are that likely to do day trips to Snowbasin.  There were certainly MCP holders spending a week in SLC who were happy to ski Alta, Snowbird, and Snowbasin, without using paying for any more for lift tickets.  Snowbasin locals will be happy to be rid of MCP and Ikon travelers.  Lots of whining about crowds this season.
