Blue Mountain Resort claims the highest vertical in Pennsylvania, at 1,082 feet. Although the average annual snowfall at Blue Mountain is 33 inches, the resort blankets 40 trails with 100% snowmaking. Blue Mountain was the first resort in the Poconos region to add automated snowmaking to several of its trails: a computer continuously measures weather conditions to determine the optimum mix of water and air, resulting in better snow. In 2021, Blue Mountain added three new 350hp / 1,000 gpm pumps to its snowmaking system, bringing snowmaking capacity to an impressive 14,000 gallons of water per minute. Two additional new cooling towers will further strengthen the resort’s snowmaking system.

100% of Blue Mountain’s terrain is lit for night skiing, and three trails are over one mile long. Night lighting was recently upgraded to more energy-efficient LED lights. Blue Mountain attracts a lot of day and weekend skiers from Philadelphia - which is just 75 miles away - as well as South Jersey. Skiers and boarders from the D.C. area also make the trek to Blue Mountain to enjoy the vertical and varied terrain. In a typical year, Blue Mountain will host over 300,000 skier visits.

For the snowboarders, Blue Mountain has five Terrain Parks geared to all ability levels. If snow tubing is your thing, you’ll find a tubing park that has expanded for the 2021-2022 winter season to 46 lanes, reaching over 1,000 feet long. Blue Mountain claims this makes its tubing park the largest and fastest park in the country.

Blue Mountain has made steady improvements in recent years, including the addition of new trails.

In an earlier time, Blue Mountain was once known as the Little Gap ski area.

During the summer of 2021, Blue Mountain Resort was sold to Denver-based BMR Resort LLC for nearly $31.9. Previously, Blue Mountain had been owned by Tuthill Corporation. According to a story in the Morning Call, Blue Mountain President and CEO Barbara Green, who took over the resort in 2007 from her father, remains as owner of BMR Resort and will continue as CEO. The Morning Call reports that BMR Resort LLC may be affiliated with KSL Capital Partners, a Denver private-equity firm that is also affiliated with KSL Resorts. KSL Resorts operates Camelback Resort and confirmed in May, 2021 that it would manage Blue Mountain.
