Timberline just announced on Facebook that they plan to be ready to make snow the first week of December. I can’t wait to ski there!

Have they given any insight into the opening and closing dates? As a kid, I know they use to open around Thanksgiving and close in April which was a few weeks after CV.

The new Timberline website is so cool!  Here's what the Snow Conditions webpage looks like.  Can't wait until the trails are marked as Open.

I emailed Timberline to see when they were opening up and they hope to next weekend. As for CV they have delayed their opening to 12/19 due to weather. I am not sure how that could be the case aside from the rain that will then turn into snow this evening in the valley....Temps look to stay in the 30s with lows in the 10s and 20s for the next two weeks. They are also calling for several snow showers that could bring anywhere from 3"-8" total for the next two weeks starting on Monday.

This sounds like it is more along the lines of the state not being prepared to start the season. I could be wrong here, but it just seems a little odd. I think Timberline is also going to be the more reliable mountain out of the two in the upcoming seasons as well.

Looks to me like CVR did not take advantage of the excellent snowmaking opportunity...par for the course for this resort.

Even during the season, they have missed good opportunities.

Does anyone know where the new snowmaking has been installed at Timberline? Hopefully there is going to be proper coverage on the drop, and off the wall. I see some of the intermediate trails have new lines installed.

CV is run by the state, I don't think they have the best operations. Still love the mountain though!

Sorry, internet service in Nepal is spotty. Working with the Dali Lhama to open a ski resort in the Himalayas. Do you take Nepalese Rupees?

The photo came from this great story (with a fantastic final paragraph) of his visit to NM in 1991:  here.

Thanks for posting the article.  Very cool read.  Must have been a pretty surreal experience.

Snowsmith, I hope you enjoyed your trip to Nepal and your visit with the Dalai Lama. To avoid any negative Karma you should put your Big Boy Pants on 😜 and settle up with Chaga.  I'm sure if you called Stumptown at 304-259-5570 they would help you settle up.

Just saying

Oh, I will pay up SCWVA. After I get my Chapter 11 bankruptcy issues settled and I can afford food again, I will scrape together paper currency and loose coins from my sofa to honor my bet. Assuming I can get around Covid quarantine restrictions, I hope to get the gas money to meet the Chaga man at  Timberline to show that I am an honorable fellow. My new job as a honey dipper for Bobby's Potties and Septic Tanks should help me get back on a firm financial footing and get my Volkls out of hock from the pawn shop. Once I then get my 2 Covid vaccination shots, I can then buy an endless stream of cold ones for the Chaga man at Timbers Pub.

Snowsmith,

Sorry to hear about your misfortunes. Your trip to Nepal must have been expensive. Did you have to sell your place at HV?  Home sales at the resort areas are skyrocketing, so you should get a pretty good price.

You should head to WV, no travel restrictions and the state of WV leads the nation in vaccinations.  The Brigadier General in charge of the distribution is kicking butt and just needs more doses to distribute.
