I'm looking for recommendations on snow boots. I usually just wear my hiking boots, but they aren't that water resistant of course. They have better traction than the last pair of "snow boots" I had though. We may actually get snow this Sunday, so I'm feeling a little bit of urgency.

Matterhorn or Danner are my recommendations. I’ve had my Matterhorn for over 26 years and my feet have never been wet or cold.  Cheers! John

I like Sorel snow boots.  Warm enough but not too warm, so perfect for SE/MidA.

Second the Sorel boots. I just tossed a pair that was purchased about 40 years ago. They were clunky but warm. The removable wool liner was shot and it was time to let them go.

Best bang for the buck and about half the price are Cabela's Snow Runner boots. Used these for the past 7-8 years. They fit great are very comfortable and well built. These are a bargain compared to what's out there. There isn't a removable liner but with some nice wool socks you stay warm and dry.

I keep my ICETrekkers Shoe Chains on these. They are easy to put on or take off. You can go anywhere and will not ever loose grip while walking.

I still gave my 40+ year old Sorel boots. You can also check out LL Bean.

I appreciate all of the suggestions and am leaning Sorel. I wish I had thought of this weeks ago and not in late January with snow incoming. All the times I've seen "Vimes boots theory" lately should have made me think about it sooner.

Sorel makes some of the best snow boots that last the longest. their slip in tall boots are bomber and last decades. LL Bean a cheaper alt.

They can get too warm at times round here when active. one pair of mine are rated to -60. A number of their models aren't available this year direct from Sorel.

I've found good deals on Sorel boots on eBay.  They do go on sale during the spring.
