I believe the Silver Creek pass is a new product.

At these prices I would be more likely to get another Ikon Base Pass for my family of 4 (which I assume is what Alterra wants).

It is $200 less than the Base Pass, a significant difference. All depends on how often you plan to go somewhere else than SS. The blackout dates on the Base Pass make it much less attractive.

I wonder if the new Silver Creek pass will mean that SC will open any earlier or stay open any later.

That's true for adult passes.  But when you factor in the Ikon Pass discounted rates for kids it would make the total price for my family for Ikon Base comparable to that of the new no-longer-Ridiculous Pass.  And if they are in the same neighborhood cost-wise it's almost a no-brainer to get Ikon Base, unless you can't make it to any other Ikon resorts besides Snowshoe.  (Of course I am basing my analysis on past years' Ikon Pass prices.  It remains to be seen how they will be for next season but I'm assuming a slight increase over this season.)

As for blackout dates, in my case we have family in eastern Canada and have been trying to visit Tremblant, which like Snowshoe, has no blackout dates for Ikon Base.  So assuming COVID gets sorted out an we could actually get up there Ikon Base might make sense for us...

The SC pass is new. They did sell SC only lift tickets this season presumably in attempt to encourage spreading, and reduce traffic between basin & SC, due to COVID. Extending SC's early/late season would be a game changer for many.  I'm skeptical it will happen but if the pass sales are high enough it will make it feasible.

If you bought the snowshoe pass this season then you get a $50 discount for next year bringing the price down to $379.  I now have a lot of options to consider.

Snowshoe only pass and be tied to one resort. $379

Ikon base pass.  Snowshoe,  Wyndam, Stratton, Killington $700?

Epic Northeast pass.  Whitetail, Hunter, Mount Snow, Okemo $670?

I probably won't ski out west.
