That’s the way it goes in the Sierra. Here is a quote from today’s Open Snow Tahoe region forecast,
” I normally put this at the end or in the I-80 Daily Snow, but I'll put it at the beginning as a preface this time. If you are not up in the Sierra by Saturday night, don't come until at least Wednesday, but with another storm possible and a dig out behind the storm, better to wait until next Friday. Avoid nightmares of sitting on the highway in your car stuck in the storm. We will have high winds and heavy snow for extensive periods.”
There is now speculation as to whether any of the Tahoe areas will get 100 inches from this one. This would benefit all Californians, not just skiers. Most of our water comes from Sierra snowpack. Rain runs off quickly. We want and need a deep snowpack that melts slowly over many months.
Go Denis go!
My sources tell me Utah is getting bombed too.
Yep - we are going to take some turns today to break in our season passes ;-)

My. Rose did break 100 with 102” over the past 5 days. Most Tahoe areas reported numbers in the 70s and 80s.

Let's hope some of that snow eventually makes it way to Colorado.
Already made it to Wolf Creek. Have had a great week! Planned to ski Dec. 12-17 but added a bonus day on Dec. 11 and will ski a few hours before leaving the area tomorrow. First pic is from Wed morning, Dec. 15. Official storm total was 14 inches but there was refills all morning for people who braved the wind. Delayed opening because the high winds knocked down a lot of trees and branches that ski patrol had to deal with. Thursday was pretty amazing. Not fluffy but still qualified as powder skiing.
Next big storm for Wolf Creek expected Dec. 24-25. Could be three feet.
