Since Alterra's purchase of Snowshoe a few years back, and their initial pop of improvements, (string of Low-E guns all up and down Cupp run, the Signature Jean-Claude Killy designed western facing , true 1400 vert Cupp Run has been open for skiing mid December.  Will we have our Cupp filled for Christmas this year?  Reply with your bet and win a prize,! I'm thinking they will start making snow over there this Saturday and Sunday so they could open by Christmas day..

I see they opened Widowmaker today.   Silver Creek opens on Friday.

I thought I read (or heard) that they can open Cupp with 48 or 72 hours of solid snowmaking.  I was there on Thurs and Friday and there was a lot of good coverage on what is open.

Looking at the 10 day, it looks like each night after Sunday they can make snow.  As @jimw noted above, it looks like they can kick start Sat night.

I'll bet they get it open.

meanwhile at 7s, they are about 10% covered.

I miss when HV wasnt owned by the same people.  HV would force 7S to have more snowmaking and open more earlier.

WWith a couple of nights on the teens and 'round the clock runtime, I'd be surprised if they couldn't get one run on that side open in five or six days.

I peeked at their camera down at Arbuckles on and off since yesterday around 6 PM.  Those 2 guns down there have been going non stop for 24 hours.

If I'm reading the forecast correctly, it appears they can go another 36 hours straight.  I have to assume those low e guns have been running as well.

Would it be nuts to think they could make snow until Thur AM, push out whales on Thur then groom it up Thu night / Fri AM and have a Christmas eve opening?

Not nuts at all-I was thinking the same thing.  They had blown upper Cupp and upper Shay's Sunday night and tonight is going to be all out.  I think they will lay down enough to give Kenny some yuck rain days to push her out.  Won't be pretty weather, but we might get our Cupp filled for Christmas!  Cheers and Merry Christmas all!
