Looking into taking off work for a ski day at Whitetail or Roundtop on the Friday before MLK Weekend (Jan. 17).
Anyone have any thoughts/predictions of how the crowds will be that day? I'm wondering if lots of people will be taking off work/taking kids out of school before the holiday weekend.
It's the best day for me to get off work, but both of those ski resorts are so mediocre that they're not worth visiting when crowded IMO.
I've found that some of the mid-atlantic resorts don't really show much of a difference in crowds the friday before MLK day. I'm thinking about 7S and Hidden Valley, really, though Whitetail usually has the same pattern of slow ramp-up in crowds friday morning and gradually getting busier late in the day. I would say if you were there early, shouldn't be much of a problem with crowds.
I think the Sat/Sun/Mon is typically where you see the increase in crowd that weekend.
Thanks.
With Whitetail and Roundtop, I guess there's very little element of people traveling to stay there for full weekend vacations. But I still suspect it may be a popular skiing day. I think you're right that if I do it I need to start my day as early as possible.
