As a civil engineer, I find this very interesting. If I could start over again, I might consider using my engineering skills to design ski resorts. Wouldn't that be fun!

For an 1-hour plus long interview with Chris Cushing of SE Group, check out his discussion on Storm Skiing Journal.  He got an engineering degree because he wanted to work for SE Group and his father said that educational background was the best way to make that happen.

Nice interview, especially the interviewee.  It captures the decision making involved in development / design so that modern ski resorts are able to cope with changing consumers' expectations, catering to varied skill levels on big mountains, etc.  But I hope that single chair at mad river glen is still running.

Considering the complete rebuild was done in 2007, I doubt the Mad River Glen COOP and fundraising foundations have any plans to ever get rid of it.  The cost was almost $2 million.
