Hey there - heading up to Killington next weekend. Curious if anyone has made trips out that way yet.

Going to be really cold while we're there. Frustrating for trail conditions but on the bright side it should keep the crowds down and the lift lines short.

Cheers.

Not Killington but we were at Sugarbush January 3-10. It was beautiful because it warmed up a bit that week and the snow was "just right". Not sure what weather has happened since then but it rained pretty hard the day we left.

I skied Jan 12 - 15 at Killington and Sugarbush. First two days at Killington they were still recovering from the ice/unfrozen precip that occurred over the weekend - trail count from the Sunday to the Monday dropped from 140 to 95. Anything off trail or bumped up was closed due to icing. On trail was pretty good, Mountain Ops did a great job getting the trails in good shape. Next day was Sugarbush, which was in better shape, I guess due to being a bit further north and having a bit of a warm up to soften things a bit. Last day was back at Killington with 4 inches of heavy dense snow and trails re-opening throughout the day, including Outer Limits. They have had more snow since then and trail count is back up in the 140's, so conditions should very good - get it while you can!

Update on this - I skied Killington Jan 23 and 24.

Pretty good conditions on the 23rd. It was windy but got about 6 inches of snow across most of the mountain. Bad visibility but otherwise a great day on the slopes (other than the lift quality).

The 24th was brutally cold. Still had a fun day on the slopes by dressing appropriately and taking breaks when needed. Only a few lifts were open most of the day so even though the mountain wasn't well-attended it felt crowded. Conditions were icy but not "terrible" because of snowfall the day prior.

The operating quality from Killington was completely unacceptable. They'll never issue refunds to folks but it was pathetic from their end. I understand that it was cold so some equipment might struggle but it's often in the 0-10 degree range so they need to be prepared for that and the lifts should be quality enough that they continue to work, especially if the ticket is $160/day. Wind gusts topped out at 20 mph on Saturday but they didn't open the gondola until 3pm. Most of the mountain was inaccessible and the lifts frequently stopped due to operator error. It seemed like they were training junior staff to manage the operations and boy did they pick the wrong weekend to do that.

I've never seen so many people fall off lifts, struggle to navigate the mountain, or need ski patrol aid/assistance. Maybe this is just what east coast skiing is like and I'll get used to it.
