WE HAVE RECENTLY PURCHASED PROPERTY AT THE SUMMIT NEAR WINCHESTER. WE ARE CONSIDERING BUILDING THERE. HOW FAR TO DECENT SKIING, HOW OFTEN DOES IT SNOW AND ANY OTHER GOOD INFO FOR A FLORIDIAN WANTING A GOOD WINTER RETREAT! OUR FRIENDS ARE SAYING WE WOULD BE BETTER OFF BUYING A CONDO (SAME $$) AT SNOWSHOE!

sounds like your committed to Winchester. there are two small areas within about 45 min, Bryce Va to south and Whitetail Pa to north, many others withing 2-3 hrs. if skiing were your primary winter retreat activity i guess i would agree being slopeside or close to it at one of the better resorts in our region like snowshoe might make a lot of sense.

well if you are any good at all on skis i think you will find anything around here pretty boring. i grew up on skis in utah. after moving here i went skiing once and put them away for good. now its all about the snowboarding, baby!

personally i think the trek to snowshoe isnt worth the time. whitetail is far closer, and nearly as nice.
