I noticed on the Seven Springs snow report that the avalance lift has been out for electrical problems for a while. I was wondering if anyone knows what the problem is and how long it will be out for.

My Dad was up at the Springs Monday and told me they also were not running the Alpine Meadows lift (Blitzen). It is a bit unusual for them to close terrain that has good cover on it (He was a bit ticked as Alpine Meadows/Blitzen Glades is one of his favorite areas when the sun is out). Any speculation as to why? or are the Dupres just saving money

I could see how the springs would be more conservative with their money this year. It has to be a big financial strain on them added Laurel Mountain to their budget without knowing how successful and/or profitable that area will be. I remember hearing in the beginning of the year that they were going to be a lot more conservative this year because of that.

Besides how hard would it be to ski down that area and either find a traverse through the woods or just take the skis off and walk over to the high-speed. It wouldn't be that bad of a walk.

For me no problem. My Dad (who is 76) gets a little cranky about long hikes in his boots
