Thanks for the info Greg.

I dropped off some skis yesterday for the swap. You've got a great employee in Luke. Very friendly, knowledgeable, and I think he talked me into a new pair of skis.

Appreciate the reminder on this from Willi/Greg. Hard to pass up the chance to meet Plake, plus I'm big into swaps. Might try to go on Saturday.

Anyone going to be there tomorrow afternoon? I hope to stop by sometime on Friday to check it out.

Comprex, PM if you're planning on going in the afternon. If you're gonna be there, I could always use your gear expertise.

How was it?? Did you see Glenn P and get a shirt?

Real question - are their lots of kids boots (but not 20 years old)? Can you give some prices too . . . may go tommorrow based on responses

Not sure how to describe...sort of like the "Dilly in Chantily", maybe a little smaller. Had lots of discounted clothes, tons on new boots, some accessories (goggles, gloves, socks, bags, carrying cases, etc.) and reps from Liberty/Roundtop/Whitetail, Wisp, Timberline, 7 Springs, Blue Knob (table set up for Snowshoe but no one there).
In general it thought prices a tad high...but who knows with todays manufacturing prices. Limited number of used skis, boards, etc. Tons of kids clothing.
All in all a fun time...great to get out of the heat and "back on the slopes"!!!! The celebrities as promised were there.
Enjoy,
The Colonel

I hit up the swap after work. Madeline ended up getting a discounted orage parka, nice pickup IMO. There was tons of clothing. And tons of last years ski equipment some at fairly reasonable prices. I talked to the atomic rep who was there for an hour about the Izor 9:7 and the SX:B5, and the Volkl Allstar as well. My T50 5* are getting sorta worn. However Ia m still on my grad-student budget until may meaning that if I cna get the T50s to last for one more season then that one more BIG western trip I can afford!

Still looking to get some new boots, I tried on a few pair at the swap. It looks like my current Sollys are at least 1 full size too big and this is probably contributing to my alignment problems. I called ski cnter but the brians aren't available for at least another month! Damn preseason blues.

I did get meet Glenn, he was very nice. Apparently he has never gotten to go sight seeing in DC, but he did hit up Wisp and White tail durring the big blizzard in '02. Awesome story IMO.

I bought a pair of Nordica Hot Rod Nitrous skis ($682 w/ binding). The ski selection was comparable to the typical Dilly but overall there was not as much inventory. The good part is there was a lot more walking around room than there has ever been at the Dilly. Didn't seem claustrophobic.

The people were much more friendly and helpful. They didn't seem as stressed as the typical Dilly employee (however I did go real early so there was not as many people in front of me to stress everyone out).

SCWVA, sorry, spent the afternoon in ER after I punched through the plantar fascia with a hay fork.

Some twit who shall go un-named had left it next to the compost heap. One careless backstep. . .

The SO went and found really good deals on mid level jackets, so I was there vicariously I guess. She mentioned an Anomaly showing Nov. 4th?

We went to the Willi's swap several weekends ago. Not as big as the expo in November, but a lot of nice sales folks as others have said.

We won an overnight at Wisp with 2 days of lift tickets and 2 lift tickets to Wintergreen! Woohoo! It pays to enter some of the drawings. Thanks Willi's.

I won two days of midweek lift tickets at Timberline. Not a whole lot, but better than a thump in the back with a rock!
And what did I have to do to win....simply attend the Willi's ski sale and show.
Thanks,
The Colonel
