Made reservations for Friday and Saturday at their $35 per night anniversary rate. Maybe they will have a slope or two open. Anyone else going over then??

If so, how about trying to get together on slope or for a beer after?

Cheers,

Gonna be in the valley, probably at t-line that weekend, or so our plans are. My spouse will be getting back on skis for the first time since breaking her fib last March. She needs to get her ski legs back so will be going slow ( I hope).

Might be a CV on the 7th. Does anyone know when CV is set to open. I tried to find it on their website .

They usually try to do it on T-giving weekend, however, u never no. They usually have the B lift area open at a minimum. Mid station, if they're lucky.

The Wisp Anniversary weekend is Dec. 9-11 also, with $7 lift tickets on Sunday (10th) and Monday (11th). Hard to say what will be open this year, but the last year they had about 1/2 -2/3 of the entire hill open. Two years ago was a reschedule, but 3 years back was close to 100%.

Hopefully the weather will turn cold in early December this year, but if not, CV may be pretty sketchy; I don't think they even had much open on Christmas week the last few years, no?

According to the "events" section on their website, opening day is scheduled for Dec 1. (weather permitting)

I'm hoping to be at Timberline and I predict a decent amount of terrain open (at least two top to bottom) given all the resort's recent snowmaking improvements.

Thanks Clay, Maybe it's just me but i have a hard time finding what i want on that site.

Sounds like an early season bargain tour shaping up, CV lift ticket $15 on thursday, fri/sat Tline and maybe stop at Wisp on the way home Sunday. 4 days of skiing at three places for 22 bucks what could be better than that?

Timber Pub Friday or Saturday sounds good.

There was still rooms available as of this morning 11/16 at about 9:30.

This'll be my first trip up to the Davis area resorts. The pub people are mentioning, onsite or ???

Jimmy, Clay, John, and the rest.....I think that an early DCSki gathering celebrating the beginning of a great season is in order. 4:30 PM at Timbers.... Jimmy, reserve a table!

Timber Pub at 4:30 sounds great, but I can't make it on Friday. We won't get up there until later. Can we make it Saturday??

I'm game (but slow). What day are we talking about? The 8th? I could probably finagle that, but I like Bill's idea of Saturday...

Jimmy:

Any idea of what they are going to open? If they do not open WL, it won't be worth the trip for me. I have to skip three significant commitments to make it this weekend--something I am loath to do unless they intend to open something decent from the top. I think many others are in the same boat. Maybe they want to remain closed on Friday so they can get a lot open for Saturday. The web cam is back up and the resort seems to really be "making a lot of hay while the sun shines." In short, I'm optimistic.

I skinned and skied WL on Sun. Dec. 3. It was continuous except for the first rollover near the top and I'm sure that too has been covered since.

I was there for the Whitegrass Jack Frost festival and simply had to throw the skis and skins in the car. The snow was there and somebody had to use it.

Based on the current webcam and doso1, they sure look to be pumping it out from top to bottom. The new pumps appear to being paying BIG dividends in output capacity. If the weather holds, it's hard to imagine that WL and Sally and probably one more top to bottom run will be open...

Not sure John, they haven't updated the snow report yet. WL looks like it's on fire on the webcam; it's too early in the week for me to pull the plug,

i've got my skis tuned
i've got my old boots on
screaming that manmade pow
is such a turn on .

Denis way to go, lightning had to get better, not worse since your expedition. Good to meet you Saturday. Such a neat crowd at that party, my memory is like a series of snap shots, coming back in bits and pieces, all smiles tho.

A little natural snow may help things out for the weekend.

Predicted Snowfall Amounts

There's a map that shows that 7 Springs, Wisp, and hopefully the Valley may get 3-6"

I just wish we could move the sod's web-cam to show if they are a-blowing on OTW. Last year it was open early as well. The spouse threw a wrench into my weekend plans, now I have to figure a way to un-wrench it . However, my plan is to still make turns Saturday, at 9:15 am from the top of the wider WL.

Well now their talkin 6 to 12..U know the program! They are talking a serious upslope, lake effect, lake enhanced, rotating shortwave...The whole 9inches..did I say that? up above 4500' is where the foot of powder could fall...that only gives us 1 resort at this time with that elevation. If TL would have opened fri there would be powder...but I guess they will groom it all out by Sat ...Oh,I just read another one..."A decent vorticity maximin at base of upper trough"!! ....Sounds good to me!!

4-8 inches is a good start for WV, albeit it seems a bit late this year. Maybe I was getting used to those late October surprises.

Still, I can't wait to see the photos from Whitegrass!

I un-wrenched the works and will be in the valley on Saturday AM. Problem is, I have to get my season pass before I can hit the hill . That means my first turns won't be until 10 am at the earliest. Better later than never. It's 4:30 in Timbers, right?

4:30 is still on my calendar We have to get our passes too - any idea how early we can get them? This is our first year with passes, so I don't have any history to go on...

getting your season pass at t-line is like the mating of elephants.... it is done with a lot of kicking and screaming and takes two years to get results.... No, not really, but it seems that way when you are anxious to get on the snow. I generally get to the business office early to be in line when they open. Expect another 20 to 30 people to be there as well. (a lot of ski team kids) You fill out the paperwork, have you mug taken and wait and wait. 20 to 30 minutes later you have your pass. Don't be overdressed, cuz the business office is always HOT, you get sweaty, and then go out into sub temps and freeze. I'll see you there around 8:30 Saturday AM, maybe earlier. I'll let you know.

Wouldn't you know. Opening days, snow coming, the wife comes down with the flu and I have to work this weekend

After starting this thread I can't make it. Maybe I can make a speed run over next weekend.

Ah yes but the result is so lovely...Never having to return to the lodge again for the entire season except to have a beer at Timbers.

"Are you going to be able to get your money back on the room reservation?"

Hadn't paid yet but they cancelled with no penalty. I imagine they won't have any problem filling the room given the rates.

We will try and make it over next weekend instead at least a day trip anyway (only 2.5-3 hour drive).
