Just a quick note: due to the warm weather the past few days, Blue Knob has delayed its opening. (The resort originally planned on opening Dec. 15.) Tim Lyons at Blue Knob sent me the following release:

"Mother Nature has just not cooperated with us. For most of the last month the temperatures have been in the 40's and 50's and that's too warm to make snow. We got the right temperatures to make snow last week and we made piles and piles of it. But as soon as we spread the snow out it going to melt. The weather is just to warm. We would rather wait, save the snow, and spread it out when the weather gets cold again."
As always, contact any resort to verify operating status before making a trip -- especially in the early season.
