It looks like a few Epic Bears will be getting together at the Springs on Feb 18. Any DCSiers interested in meeting up too?
LH Crazie, I can be there, sounds like fun. Any other dcskiers want to meet some bears?
Jimmy, I'll try to keep info posted here. So far there are only a few interested. Presidents Day weekend could keep some away. I'll let folks know if it's a go. If Pierre attends, you will be fortunate to watch some really fine ice bump skiing. Pierre is great at it and an Level 3 PSIA too. Perhaps Taylormatt can join us and Springsregular too but they both are likely to be very busy.
I'm going to be in Chicago that weekend, but will be up all day this coming Sunday.
One of my regulars will be in that weekend, I'm booked 10-5 Fri through Sun. with him. He's a ripping little skiier, so we will be able to make a run with you guys if we see you out there. He skis anything on the mtn.
Seven Springs on a holiday weekend is something for me to avoid. Definitely would be interested in a non-holiday weekend gathering if that would occur in the future. I read Epic a fair amount, but I'm mostly a lurker on that forum.
I will be there Saturday all day, back Sunday sometime in the afternoon, and all day Monday.

There's a nice core of folks coming to 7S. Are you still planning to attend? I'll be in the Foggy Goggle between 8:45 and 9:00 am. Check your PMs.
I'm in, if folks are worried about crowded slopes, if it's as cold as they predict, my experience has been the Goggle will be more crowded than the slopes.
New Skis....what did you get?

I may make the gathering on the 18th. Seems like PA did a lot better from this storm than WV. May end up doing Sat BK, Sun 7 Springs, and Mon Denton.
But if Plattekill in NY gets the predicted 2-3 feet of snow from this storm, a last-second road trip to NY could be in order...
Only bad news is that I can't blow off work to ski either Thursday or Friday.

I got a pair of Head iM 88s in 164cm. I demoed them in 175, but I ultimately decided that the shorter skis will be a better fit.

Wise choice. The iM's are pretty burly skis and IMHO are best skied shorter.

That was my idea too! Well except denton. I actually skied denton for a week in high school on a X-C trip. Doing down the blacks on X-C skis was a trip.
Here you go!

Jimmy,
I have no PM from you.

Tromano, John L, et al:
I'm going to be at BK on Sat and Sun, will be pretty busy with family, but if anyone is there on Sat and want to hook up for a few runs post here or PM. Maybe 1pm rendezvous beside off-load ramp at top of triple??
I'll cross my poles.
Like I said I am the dude on Freerides (probably the only one) and Madeline is on a Pair of IM88s not many girls on those around here. Should be easy to spot.
ok tim, want to shoot for 1pm on summit near top of triple chair? i'll hold my my poles up in a cross and be wearing a puke green jacket. If I (or you) don't show after 15 mins = ski on.
Sorry for the royal thread hijack.
Jim,
I'll try to catch you at 1 PM on Saturday. I'm pretty certain I remember what you look like, even if you don't have the poles crossed.
I got absolutely no work done today debating whether I should re-vector my weekend and head instead to Plattekill and it's 3 feet from the past storm. (Not good since I'll be missing a lot of work in the next month.) I guess I wasn't motivated for a 6.5-7 hour drive to get up there with uncertain lodging options. From AlpineZone and Ski Vermont, sounds like the wind has really done a job on the snow quality up North (not exactly Utah fresh.) At least that's my rationalization for blowing off the tail end of an epic storm.
I am thinking of stopping at BK Saturday on my way to Seven Springs. I'll try to make sure I get there in time for the 1:00 crossed poles at top of triple chair. I'll have on a red w/black coat, black wind pants, helmet, and my new K2 Apache Cross Fire skis. And red ribbons on gloves.
Hope to see you,
The Colonel
