I saw pictures of that this summer, but unless it's built up off of the ground by at least a few feet, I'd figure the snow would bury it. What about frost bite, drifts, and it intersecting other trails that skiiers use??

It could be chilly in the winter, but it is raised up above the ground. It looks like fun.

The one thing that makes me wonder about having that coaster open in the winter... if it's near the trails or runs along side any trails, there is the chance of idiot kids trying to huck it and or ride it on their boards. Then down comes the car and WHAM. Hrm, maybe that would take out those idiots and keep them from taking my knees out...??

If you've ridden the alpine slide at 7 springs, this is nothing like that. this is basically a roller coaster. I rode it this fall. It's expensive but very cool. None of it's on the trails. It goes up a lift line (and over a trail) and down through the woods. The track is up off the ground pretty much everywhere- 20' in some places. Its all stainless steel (bet that wasn't cheep) and they said it would stay open except maybe when it was real icy which would impact the lift cable working right. Dress warm (and wear goggles)- it was COLD riding it in the fall and the temp was in the 50's.
