Thought I would introduce myself. I moved to this area a couple of years ago and just started skiing December 2006. I have an 11 year old daughter who started at the same time. We go to Wintergreen every chance we get but will probably venture out further away this year. I have enjoyed visiting this site for the past year and have learned a lot from all of you.

I live in Stafford, but until very recently worked in the west end of Richmond. Wintergreen is great when the weather works, Snowshoe is not too terribly far and there are some good options further north and west.

I spent four months in Richmond after the Isabel disaster, loved the town... An amazing number of good restaurants and cultural activities for a town its size. I really liked my time there, considering the reason.

I did not start to learn to ski until I was 29 years of age, but stay with it. Unfortunately you will get addicted as many DCSkiers are. But nearly 40 years later I am still at it, learning more each time I hit the slopes. I grew up in Richmond, visit often, great town....and the best barbecue in the WORLD is Bill's Barbeque, a Richmond tradition.
