Rumor has it, i cannot find much info other than the date on Tlines new improved website, that they're holding an all day tele clinic on Sunday the 20th. Anyone making plans for that? it is a good way to cut line on a holiday weekend, details such as cost and times would be appreciated if someone knows.

Hadn't heard that, but there was a lot of tele action today at Tline. Some fairly accomplished nordic rangers tele-zippering WL for much of the day.

BTW, Tline blew all morning (and probably last night) on Upper Dew, and combined with what survived the week past, it appears to have enough base to open very soon. They also started blowing on the top of Almost Heaven today.

jimmi, the skinny is yes on the tele clinic. I think the cost is $65 for the day, according to the info I picked up. You get a $5 discount if you bring a friend to do the clinic. It's for all levels and will be for both on and off piste tele. Let's see, rock ski sale on Saturday, tele clinic on Sunday. That, of course, depends on conditions. If we get a big pow-pow, I'm in the trees all weekend instead.

I'll be participating on Sunday. I spoke to the woman that runs the Nordic Program and kwillg6 has the correct details. I suspect that Sean and/or Shelly will be teaching so the lesson quality will be very high. Much to learn for all levels. Hope to see you Sunday.

Timberline's web site says "registration on line", but I can't find any registration links/pages.

Also, for a never/ever, what would the best option be for rental equipment? If I get the gear at T-Line, how early do a need to show up and would I need to reserve equipment in advance?

JohnL, try emailing Annie at nordic@timberlineresort.com for registration; don't you just love that website?

They rent tele gear in the demo shop, not the main rental area. Might be be best to stop in later Saturday and see if you can do it then, place will be a zoo the morning of the clinic.

I am actually considering coming up and giving it a try. I have been wanting to try out tele skiing for a while now. I guess if they are going to be teaching ABSOLUTE beginners then it would be a perfect oppurtunity. I saw where if you bring a friend then you can get your ticket for 5 bucks off. Will you be my friend if I can make it?

They are for sure going to have classes for people who are trying for the first time??

Unless it is a powder day of Utah epic proportions, I'll be in the never-ever clinic on Sunday. Sounds like several of us may be in it.

Jimmy, for 4 bucks I'll be your friend.

Kim, I'll prolly see you at your garage sale on Saturday. Find some leftover tele gear for sale before then, and I bet your sale traffic doubles.

I emailed Annie and asked her about beginner lessons, tele rental prices, and registration. Here is the email she sent me back:

"Dear DAVID,

The telemark workshop registration will take place between 8:30 am and 9:30 am and will go until 3:30 pm in the afternoon. The cost for the whole day is $65. We have a group for first time telemarkers. Tele rentals are $16 for the whole day skis, boots and poles. Yes, you can sign up once you are at the resort. It would be great if you could confirm you are coming so I can put you on our list of participants. You will need to come in the ski school lobby for information. Also you will get a discounted lift ticket.
We hope to see you there. Thank you for contacting us,
Sincerely
Annie

OW, jimmy. The truth hurts. It's gonna be all of 8 on sunday according to NOAA. What's this I'm hearing about a Saturday snowstorm? All they want to talk about is today, which in my book is history anyway.

Had a GREAT time learning how to be a pin head on Sunday. Enjoyed my clinic w/crunchy and brews in the pub apres. For those who missed it, u missed it. How about our "private" Crunchy???? Twas good. I spent yesterday bombing the drop on all that velvet. tho the guns made me crunchy, I went back again and again until I was a Krispy Kream. They moved the guns to upper thunder and continued to blow on twister, lower heaven, the drop, and lower dew. If the temps hold, t-line will have nearly 100% by next weekend with ample base to keep er going till late march if we don't see the 70's again for a week or two.

Wish i could have stayed til Monday. Glad you guys had a good experience, i like the all day lesson format. Colleen and I skied with pete and josh, i spent the day with Josh looking for the sweet spot in my stance and while i didn't exactly find it i do have a much better idea where to look, oh i love being a beginner again!

TomH were you skiing Tline the week after New Years?? if so i think i know you on the hill as well. Kim i noticed t.worden1 lurking here yesterday; maybe we can look forward to an alpine clinic in the future as well?

Hey, Jimmy, all we have to do is pick a day and set it up. Done it in the past. Maybe sometime in February?

Jimmy nice meeting you at the Tele clinic. Sorry we didn't get to ski a run or two. I had an excellent experience in my class as well. Sean does a great job and they had an visiting instructor Greg that was really good as well. I've been at TLine every weekend since mid December and spent a week there bw X-Mas and New Years. Since we were all on Whitelightening most of that time I'm sure we passed each other often.

Maybe I'll see you on the slope this weekend. Always on Tele's so shouldn't be to hard to pick out. By the way, sweet conditions at TLINE. This weekend should be the best yet.

that narrows it down to about 50% of the 'regulars' at TLine \:\)

btw, there is a NATO clinic this weekend. 2 day clinic. I think the first day is at TLine, the second day is backcountry at WG.

I'm a WV boy. You only get lucky enough to see me dressed up like that for a wedding. Besides, I wouldn't get into any of that pig sqeeling stuff.. I may not be toughest, but I can gurantee you that I am probably faster than about any person that I would venture upon in the national forest. BTW Fish, You sure got a purdy mouth...
