snowshoe lodging

does anyone know where two people can stay in a nice quiet place with a fireplace? thanks.

It's the Elk River Inn, at the base of SNOWSHOE. It's nice and out of the hustle bustle of the Inn @ SNOWSHOE. There aren't fireplaces in the rooms (that I've stayed in), but there is a nice one in the dining room, and they have an excellent menu.

It's kind of like a bed and breakfast place, but they have more private rooms as well. Nice and quiet.

There's also a new place (brand new), and Irish Inn called the Brazen Head Inn in Mingo, about 6 miles north of the Shoe. Don't know their phone no., but it's an excellent place and the lodge serves as a jam session on weekends for the local bluegrass and Celtic players. I went there and loved it.
