Places in CV to watch the SB?
January 28, 2009
We usually make a few trips to the Valley per year, but this year we've waited until both resorts were 99% open, and since Wisp and 7S have had great conditions one day or another almost every week this season, it hasnt been much of a sacrifice. Usually we put together a group and get a house and dont participate in any of the "nightlife" in the area, since we're usually stuffed after in-house meals and full days on the slopes, and in a hurry to wake up and do it all over again. But this weekend my lady and I are trying to get a quick overnighter in and are finally ready to make the trip to the Valley. We're going to take advantage of CV's cheap ski and stay package and ride there Sunday, and hit TLine on Monday before driving home that evening.
So where would be some good spots to watch the SB on Sunday evening? My lady is from Pittsburgh, so no way we can miss it, and we'd prefer to enjoy it in the company of others as opposed to sitting in our hotel room at Canaan. Looking for respectable joints with cold beer, bar food, and large televisions.
Ive already read about the party @ TLine, but wondering about our other options as well. We've never actually stayed in a room @ Canaan resort, so we dont know whats on site over on that side of the resort, we always just hit the slopes and stay in a house.
Thanks in advance.

If you want to keep it safe & close to home..there is a lounge in the main lodge at Canaan. Besides TL there isn't much else in the Valley..(coyotes..Deerfield?)there should be a few places up in Davis & maybe someone here will be nice enough to fill in the Blanks for you. Watch that weather in case that Noreaster actually does start cranking as your heading out Mon!
Timbers at T-Line is a great choice. If you don't want to go there, you have Hellbender's in Davis and Mtn. State Brewery in Thomas. Either would be a fine choice.
Hellbender Burritos would be my first choice for sure! Might be a little crowded since the bar area is small, so get there early for a good spot, but the vibe there is the best and rob the owner is one the friendliest dudes youll ever meet and a huge steeler fan from morgantown too. .. Mountain State Brew pub in Thomas (behind kidwell auto parts) would be the second choice. A little bigger, 2 miles north of Davis. might be nice to explore out of the valley too. (sure, Timbers is the closest to you and the biggest place for sure, but I personally like the vibe at the places in town better for some reason)
Timbers can get a little scary the later and drunker the local crew gets. Fortunately, there are likely to be way more Steelers than Cardinals fans at any of the local joints. Mutley's in downtown Davis is another choice.
