OK, so I can pick any slope coming off the Whitetail Express?

If I did the expert lift, I would have to do Far Side. I haven't yet mastered bumps, so Exhibition is out for now. And Bold Decision -- well, I tried it once, on MLK weekend, and spent about 30 yards sliding on my tail, with my left ski (detached from my boot) sliding down next to me. It's hard to rack up the turns in that posture. crazy

In any case, you've now given me incentive to get back up to Whitetail to beat your turn count!

No stopping!? I've never counted, but I think I usually do that many turns, that's about twenty feet of slope (length not drop) per turn? But never without two or three stops per run. Ouch. I can easily do ten times that many if you don't rule out stopping or hopping.

Using google earth and memory of approx. where the slow banners would be, I think Upper Angel-Home Run is the longest run. This would be 1 turn every 25 feet or so by my measure. Assuming there are slow signs at the bottom of Fanciful and Snow Dancer, these are actually much shorter runs now, with the addition of Sidewinder.

I once yo-yoed Limelight twice in a row making short slalom turns both times. I have no idea how many turns it was total, but my quads were N-O-T happy. I'm almost tempted to fly back east just to play... nice game!

I'm pretty sure I can link 200 slow pivoted turns on Limelight without stopping. I'll even curtsy a few times.

If you're talking skis, what size? Sno-blades would be cheating whistle. What is the duration of the run, time-wise? Lotsa questions. Sorta like the discussion last year of WL @ t-line in under 2 min lift to lift.

What was your record on the Coyotes? laugh

My SX-9's @ 170 cm would be perfect for a game like this...

I'll bet Glen Plake could do 150+ on 220 DH boards...

Speed control is obviously a huge key.

By the way, how do you define a "turn". A near straight shot down the slope, with a hip wiggle that causes some ski side-to-side movement might be a "turn". Then the issue is speed vs turns.

Until you get your skis repaired, you may be teaching on those Big Boys this weekend.

Don't bother turning them, just point them downhill and stop at the bar inside Timbers Pub. Patti will have a Blue Moon waiting and Kim will be talking about how much he loves Battlestar Gallactica. laugh

ok.. Since I did not see anything except for the no stopping rule, I tried this evening, and got 191 turns before I hit the major portland cement slush where the lifts cross the slopes. 200 turns is doable in that distance to the slow sign with better snow. Not trying to make as many turns as possible, I get anywhere between 60 and 90 on limelight, depending on conditions and crowds.

Needless to say, my knees will be balloons in the morning. What I don't get is that I can do all those hop turns in a very tight radius down Limelight just fine, but put me in a mogul field and I just freeze up trying to turn

I was up there earlier today. I got to 125, but I had to make the turns pretty slow to reach that count. Too fast and I didn't get above 100. Needless to say, my thighs were letting me know they weren't used to the workout.

I tried this morning and got 120, or around 108 at the lift pole at center slope. They had blown on Upper Angel and Home Run so it was easy to carve with the cold PP. I could have made more, and I also think that the SLOW signs were a little down slope this morning. The signs were parallel with the loading line on the HSQ, which seems a little further down than usual to me.

Conditions were OK. Get out today or Wed. before it turns to slush.

No, I had 121 to the liftline and was at about 108 at the lift tower which is center slope where Home Run and Limelight merge. But as I said, the SLOW signs seemed down slope toward the mixing bowl more than usual.
