Re: Ski Swap thread '09/'10

Anybody hear dates and times for Ski Chalet's "Dilly in Chantilly"?
The Colonel
Last years Dilly in Chantilly was a joke. The only thing it was good for was to talk to the reps. The "special prices" were higher than the local shop i buy from.
Saturday, November 7: Ski Chalet, Arlington (for Whitetail Ski Patrol)
...comprex, will we have you for technical assistance once again? ;-)
A Ski Swap is being organized at Hidden Valley for the weekend of Oct. 31st. Will post if I learn any more details.
I may be in, Comprex. Besides, I STILL owe you those K2 skis. Don't think I'll forget!
I'm pouring beer at the NOVA Brewfest at Bull Run Sunday afternoon, so I'll just have to see if I can get buy-in from the GF for a trip to DC in the morning...
aaron
So...who wants to meet for coffee?
I can only be there from about 9-11am on the 25th, so I probably won't have time for coffee. But if I see you we can compare "finds"
I'll be there in ~ the same time frame.
Oct. 25 - I'll be there all day. Come by to say "hi."
Thanks for supporting the Liberty Ski Patrol (sponsors of the Ski Center swap).
Jim
Correction: Hidden Valley Ski School will now hold their ski swap on the weekend of Nov 7-8 according to the 'e-blast' below. Notice, HV is also planning to offer free skiing after Thanksgiving, weather permitting.
Greetings From The Valley ~
Last week Hidden Valley saw its first snow flurries and light accumulation - a sign that winter will be here before we know it. The resort is busy gearing up for the snow season as they continue to make enhancements to the mountain and facilities to help provide guests with the best possible winter experience. The resort targets Thanksgiving weekend to open the slopes for the season. The popular free-ski/board promotion is slated to take place November 27-29, 2009, weather permitting.
In the mean time, the Hidden Valley Sport Shop offers the finest equipment, coolest clothing, and the friendliest and most knowledgeable staff to help you prepare for the 2009-2010 winter season.
WINTERSPORTS U
EQUIPMENT AND GEAR SWAP
Wintersports U, Hidden Valley's ski and snowboard instructional staff, are holding an equipment and gear swap November 7 and 8. This is the perfect opportunity to pick up hi-end and beginner level used skis, snowboards, boots, clothing and other gear. It is also a great time to sell some of your own quality equipment. All of those who sell gear will help benefit the local food bank. A $5 fee will be collected for selling the gear, and all proceeds will benefit Tableland Services of Somerset County. You will also have the opportunity to donate warm winter clothing to help families in need.
Anyone wishing to sell equipment must drop it off and register it on Saturday, November 7 between 8 and 10 a.m. The swap sale will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 7 and Sunday, November 8. The event is open to anyone who would like to buy or sell any quality used equipment.
For more information on the Wintersports U equipment and gear swap, please contact
814-443-8000, ext. 300.
Make it a weekend at Hidden Valley with our
Arts & Cultural Celebration, November 7 and 8.

I'll be wearing a Whitegrass hat.
I missed you guys at Ski Center. That place was mobbed. Got ski pants for daughter, Leki ski poles for $18, and cross country ski poles for $5. Got there at 905am, a lot of the good stuff was gone by 930am
Sorry I missed you Jim. I was looking for something in the XC line so knew I didn't need to get there early. Showed up ~ 10:45 and met Comprex and an old friend from grad school. We had lunch. It was an amazing day with an amazing turnout.
It was an incredible event. For the first time in the history of the swap, we had a check-in line that stretched all the way to Mass Ave. and around the corner! Then the check out line was incredible too. Thanks to everyone for their patience and forebearance. Who knew we would have had this large a turn out!
Sorry I didn't catch up with folks as I was busy trying to get folks checked in quickly. The checking in/buying/browsing went full swing until well after noon, although as folks have already noted, a lot of the "primo" stuff was gone by 10am. Thanks to Ski Center for their incredible hospitality (and some great deals - got four sets of sock liners myself!!). Thanks to all who came to support the Patrol (or just to find a really good deal).
Heads-up on the next installment... This Saturday, Nov. 7. Ski Chalet Arlington. Benefiting Whitetail Ski Patrol. Drop off begins around 8:30/9. Lasts til 4.
Looking to unload some gear, get a good deal, find what you arrived-too-late-to-get at an earlier swap? Come on by! Weather looks great.
...seems to be the last one for close-in DC before the snow starts blowing!

Thanks for adding the Ski Haus swaps. I drove up to visit a friend who lives near BWI last weekend. We got to the Ski Haus in Annapolis early enough to find stuff for Marz Jr. I was mainly hoping for boots, but found some good skis. She's happiest that there were poles the right length. No swaps around Raleigh, so I'll keep the dates in mind for next year.
