Why I am thankful for Skiing/boarding
November 17, 2009
I admit I hijacked this idea from The Nationals message board, but I thought it was a great idea with Thanksgiving coming.
I am Thankful for skiing because:
Skiing has provided my family with so many shared memories, that have covered toddler-hood to teen angst, and god willing will coninue into grandparenthood. It has simply been one of the best family activities ever.
There are all kinds of fine altruistic reasons like family togetherness, nature, fitness, travel, camraderie, gold medals, etc. but the most powerful one is entirely selfish - it makes ya feel young again!

I have to agree. It's one thing my family does together. With four grown sons it's hard to get everyone together. We usually do at least one ski trip together each year. It's not to hard to talk them into going to the outer banks either.
1) Something I can do with my daughter that we both love.
2) Makes me feel younger...
3) Its just plain fun
4) Excuse to buy cool gear
5) Make new friends
6) Get to go cool places
7) Motivation to get and stay in shape.
Unlike golf, you`ll rarely have a bad day of skiing.
It expands the base of people who love mountains, and therefore care about the natural environment
