Westward Ho
January 25, 2010
I left N VA this morning driving west for the first half of my ski 2010 road trip. I'll stop in Chicago to see my son on the way. I am no longer keen to drive all the way to Chicago in one day so I have stopped in western OH. Whimsy compels this choice as I will be skiing Mad River Mountain, OH tomorrow morning before driving on to Chicago. I'm not expecting terrain or snow to equal Mad River Glen but I will catch the spirit of the place. Robbie Allen wrote a story on it for DCSki a few years ago,

Denis, I was there over Xmas. Not a bad little hill, hopefully not too icy. They have a nice little glade just skiers right of the main lifts. Also some wooden tunnels on the right side of the top to bottom green run on skiers right. They also serve beer. But no frozen water falls or cliffs.
Denis - where are you going on your road trip? Maybe we can catch up in Utah in Feb? Connie Lawn
Connie and all DCSkiers,

Modified Irish blessing:
May the powder rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face every third day,
and snow fall hard upon your tracks all other days.
And until we meet again,
May Ullr hold you in the palm of his hand.
