Sunday was a near-perfect day! My husband Charles and I chose Liberty, but Whitetail was also in excellent shape. The sun was shinning, and temperatures were in the 30's. Unlike our Metro area, they only got 2 to 3 inches of natural snow, but Liberty made a lot of their own snow over night. Conditions were described as powder packed.
I violated my advice and skied on a weekend. I knew it would be crowded, and the lines were long. But, we were drawn to the mountains by the great weather and the Saturday snowfall. Everyone seemed in good spirits and enjoyed the day, with several thousand of their closest friends!
I especially loved seeing our friends, Trippi and Tom Penland, and the other ski school instructors. They give regular ski lessons, but also volunteer their time to give adaptive lessons to challenged chldren and adults. Sunday, they fit a slider for an adorable little girl who has problems with sight and movement. She took to the slopes immediately, laughing, playing, and having a great day in the sun and snow. Not a bad way to "take a snow day." - Connie and Charles
