I read through the long thread about the drive to Snowshoe a week or two ago during the big storm, does anyone have any road condition reports or tips for a drive to Snowshoe from Leesburg early Thursday morning in a Honda CRV w/ AWD? Looking at the weather, I have seen predictions of 2-4 inches/day through Thursday. I'm sure Cass will be slow going, but will we be taking our lives in our hands going the 81-55-28-66 route? It's our first trip this year, so I'm pretty stoked!

You should be fine in your CRV/AWD. My friend managed to get there on that Friday with the big storm with his FWD car with a few exciting moments..

All the roads near Snowshoe and Cass get cleared pretty quickly. I drove back from Snowshoe on Sunday after the big storm and didn't have any problem. If it's snowing heavily, take the second entrance from Rt 66 (near Inn @ snowshoe / Spruce village), the first entrance might be too steep.

You are in for the best of the best of condition!

Awesome. Our last trip to SS was 5 years ago - we went in early March, got there right before a storm and had fresh snow for 3 days straight, it was sweeeet.
