Didn't suck too badly. cool

While all the locals, instructors, and work orphans were catching their breath after last week's powder party, one of us who was stuck elsewhere last week was able sample some tasty lake effect today. Seems like there were only 30 other people on the mountain. (TomH and his wife were two of those.) Even ski patrol was too tired to poach my favorite woods shots.

Light, light fluff today. Dave Lester reported 8" new this AM; not sure if it was quite that. But a good 5"++ additional fell during the day. It was still puking snow when I left. Couldn't call in sick one more day.

Jimmy asked me, did they groom any trails? I told him, I dunno, I didn't ski any trails. (Actually did ski 2.5 trail runs.) Pretty much fresh tree lines every single run of the day. Maybe not as deep as last week, but talking to some who skied last week, the snow was a lot lighter today. Most tracks I cursed at were probably mine...

K-Will's neighbor Matt can really rip in the trees. One of the best I've ever skied with.

Tomorrow (Wednesday) is gonna be a good one. Call in sick. I called in sick today, so a second day in a row is out of the question. Especially since I haven't been at work since January 29th.

If you can't call in sick on Wednesday, there is alway Thursday.

After I get my legs back, the Mrs and I are looking at going up to t-line on Friday to find freshies. Should still be a few, although the pow-pigs usually get theirs first. Gotta use the snow while it's still there. What say, 300"+ this year?

Glad that you had a great time JohnL!

I am planning to head up to ski the valley for the first time this Saturday/Sunday. Do you guys think that I will need a 4WD/AWD (if so I will rent) to drive from DC there and get around from Canaan valley lodge to the two ski resorts?

You should be fine with FWD, provided your car handles relatively well in a bit of snow. The main roads are in pretty good shape and you'd only be using the main roads. Just pay attention to possible wind drifts in some spots.

Maria and I stayed for another day after seeing John at TLine on Tuesday. It puked all day Tuesday, Tuesday night and Wednesday. We decided to check out Canaan after 4 days of TLine. $30 dollar for a two for one ticket got you untracked powder on 3/4 of their runs plus all you wanted in the woods. Knee deep and higher depending on where the wind had blown. Utah in WV last week.

JohnL,

You were right, Tline was off the charts. I can't tell you how many face shots I got on my first run, let alone on my last run of the day. There was deep powder on the trails and it only got deeper in the woods.

BTW - Ski Patrol has posted double diamond expert only signs at two of the entrances to OD. crazy confused

...that is a great deal on lift tickets for sure....I bet you got your money's worth...I rode the lift with someone at T-line today who said it was locals days every thursday and WV residents get tickets for 12 bucks on thursdays...I don't know for sure, just took his word for it and he was stoked...

...well we only got 5 inches last night, so I was debating if I should even bother today wink ...I am glad I went over this morning for a dozen laps or so....everything blew in hard last night and I didn't hit bottom until I got on what they had groomed...much different surface then yesterday...still face shots everywhere....there are huge drifts and it is easy to ride full throttle with confidence in tight spaces...should blow in again tonight, I imagine tomorrow will be much of the same...
