I am going to the big SAC and may be able to swing an extra day to ski. Looking for a suggestion about where to go. What is good nearby for one day. I ski anything but heavy moguls. Will consider departing from Reno too.

Used Sac once to fly in/out for vacation at Kirkwood and Heavenly. Believe it's about 90 mins to two hours to Sierra at Tahoe or Heavenly respectively via Rt 50; ditto Sugarbowl or Squaw Valley respectively via I80. Many other ski areas in same driving range, take your pick. If you've never been out there it's hard to beat the views and groomers at Heavenly, but it can be pretty busy even on a routine weekday. http://www.dcski.com/articles/view_article.php?article_id=811&mode=headlines
I'd also be tempted to check out Squaw, but a smaller (relatively) place like Sugarbowl or SaT might be logistically easier for a day tripper.
I guess you could decide last minute depending on ski conditions and road conditions.
