Have not been around in a while but just noticed this and needed to post the fun facts:

Canaan Valley has had more snow than:

-Any other resort on the east coast
-The Tug Hill Plateau
-Mount Washington
-Most/all?? Colorado Resorts

Pretty much, besides the normal snowy west coast resorts (Sierra Nevada, Cascades) Canaan valley has been the next snowiest area in the country this year. Not at all out of the realm of possibility that they break 300" this year!!

I would love to hike in Dolly Sods in early May, I am sure there will still be drifts in areas that receive heavy wind loading. Also, the Drop will probably be skiable throughout April if I had to guess!

I think Dave up Canaan Heights is having trouble with snow blowing off his snow board because he only reported 1/2" between 10 am and 1pm (while it was snowing its arse off the whole time), and only about 3" since 7 am!!

I saw a report of 24.0" as of 7 am in Bayard, and an afternoon report of 34.0" in Red House, Md (no, I don't believe that to be totally accurate).

In other words, I think we've gotten more than the 18" or so Dave is reporting as of 4pm. Hopefully he will report a big total overnight as the winds die.

WC gets affected by different weather patterns than Summit Co. Southern Utah and Southern Colorado have been getting the snow this year. Jet stream has been dipping south out west. (Plus Wolf Creek always gets the snow.)

Every system that's dropped snow on us has dropped it on WC on it way from the South Pacific. It's an El Nino thing. In general, their accumulations have been inline with the NWS forecasts. Maybe the numbers are exaggerated but they've had a very good year and it's been good since early November.

Wow! 7 Springs and Hidden Valley are around 200 for the year and it seems like a ton. I can't imagine 353!

Ski Man,
Alta in Utah averages over 500" natural light powder snow at mid-mountain each year, last year was over 700". I have skied there many times in early April with 12 feet or more of base under my skis.
