This is actually a non-lodging experience. We have all suffered this year awaiting the white stuff. I had reserved lodging through SnowshoeResort.com (not to be confused with central reservations) for the weekend of December 7th. The terms for renting the condominium on the mountain were a non-refundable $100 deposit along with the rental fee two weeks prior to arrival. Being the optimists that we are, we went ahead and paid in full. Then we watched in horror as the weather became warmer and warmer. We began calling Snowshoe to see if the new AcquaClub was open, were there tennis courts or other pools to swim in. We became consumed by the thoughts of the vast amounts of money we were going to spend on the mountain that had nothing to do with skiing. Then Monday, December 3rd arrived, and the news became official - no snow. Totally depressed, we accepted our fate. To our surprise and delight, John Dearing of SnowshoeResort.com called us and inquired if we played golf or hunted. No and no. Then he tried to find another date available to reschedule our weekend but with no success. Finally, he refunded our money including the deposit. I have to say this is excellent business. Having never stepped foot into one of their rental properties, we will recommend them to anyone and everyone. We look forward to renting one of their properties in the 2002-03 season, again we will shoot for early December. So, if anyone is looking for lodging at Snowshoe, check these guys out.
