Wow... this was not a weekend to miss. Not quite the bottomless powder of a few weeks ago but still amazing. The drive over to Canaan Valley from Harrisonburg wasn't anywhere near as bad as I was expecting it. I could see where there had been some huge drifts blocking the road, but everything was cleared pretty well by Saturday morning.

I got to tline around 8:30 or so and the slopes were pretty empty for the first hour or two. The lift line got pretty long (around 15 minutes) until they finally decided to open Silver Queen lift around 11 am, what a relief! After that, you were pretty much able to ski onto the lift. Conditions in the woods were great, with an easy two feet of soft, light powder over a firm base. I was surprised at how quickly the trees got skied off through the day, but I found that with a little exploring and that if I didn't mind getting whipped in the face with the occasional branch there were fresh lines to be found all day wink

After a full day skiing of we stopped by White Grass for a little apres-ski and then headed to the Meyer House B&B to crash for the night (thanks jonjon1!). After a great breakfast Sunday morning we got to tline around 7:40 to wait in line for first chair, oh the excitement! There was just enough fresh snow to fill in most of the tracks from the day before, and what few groomers I did seemed to have a lot less ice on them. We were having such a good time on Sunday that we only stopped for a quick 20 minute lunch break and skied all the way until last chair!

I added a few pics below and there are more (along with videos) on my Picasa site if you want to check them out:

Making first tracks down "The Drop"

I don't think it gets any better than this

I managed to find a few trees to ski wink

We stopped by White Grass for some apres-ski

We shared the same view as their webcam...wonder if the window will get burried!

In line for first tracks on Sunday

The woods was beautiful

Some snowbanks along Rte 32 - I'm guessing this is why the road was closed on Friday!

Way to get after it this past weekend. considering the recent weather, this forum as been due for a good picture TR. I'm bummed I couldn't leave town this past weekend. Might try to skip work on Wed. or Thurs. Hoping the coastal low provides some decent upslope snow by then.

Great summary about Tline this past weekend. My brother an I went on saturday and i agree the trees were absolutely epic. I couldn't believe how bad some of the glades got skied out..even before mid day. As you said however, if you were willing to look a little there were fresh lines everywhere.

Ahhhh..... you didn't look hard enough! There were fresh lines at 4 pm if you knew where to look. Since we didn't get there until noon on Saturday, I went in search of, and lo and behold, the goods were still where Ullr put them wink .

Ha... I think you might have been out towing cars up Freeland Rd when we stopped by. At least I thought I saw you out there when we were leaving. That was a pretty funny scene for sure... a traffic jam leaving WG wink

Why does it always seem that Todd/Crunchy disappears just when Super Chaga emerges from a warming hut? wink
