Having been this past weekend I can say that it should be very good for luau. The surface was soft and it was the beginning of spring corn. Still lots of snow in the trees, but didn't jump in with the limited visability. If you like bumps... OTW, the drop, t-draft all excellent. Lifts open at 9 am now on weekends instead of 8. The rain kept crowds down for both saturday and sunday, but they should return with the luau this weekend. Who is planning on being there?
The Family and I will be there this weekend. I'm also trying to ski Friday.
Thinking about it, depends on the weather....
My wife, daughter, son, friend of son and I will be there. We may bring along a few more. I hope that Marcus will be able to make it. He is now in the hospital after suffering some sort of seizure. He is undergoing tests to determine the cause. I wasn't there when it happen but it was pretty bad involving loss of consciousness. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance. I talked to him yesterday and he said he is well now but still no clue as to the cause of the seizure. Send prayer/good thoughts his way.
Hoping to be there Saturday.
...looks like mid week this week will be classic march conditions...soft corn'n'slush bumps, sun, and boat drinks....
Noticed last weekend that the decks were starting to reappear. How long will it take for 3-4' of the snow to melt off of em? Gonna be hard to sell & eat luau pig with all that snow.

Very funny! I was thinking the same thing when I looked at the web cam a few days ago.
4 days ago the GFS showed a strong front moving in around dark just in time to bring some snow to the lava parade (still trying to find a repeat of mama natures performance at the Luau a few years back)..but it looks now to be arriving 24 hours behind schedule
..
I remember that one, Andy. It was the most incredible light show I ever saw. Fireworks reflecting off those huge flakes and the fuzzy lava flow was really something to see.
Yeh Kwill..remember the Folks Screaming thier heads off?.what a finale! It was probably a front that came thru like the one that is now 24 hours late..bummer..4 to 5 inches dropped in an hour or so..CRAZY!!
Looking like I might make it with Junior Ski Partner. Probably wont be early birds though. Hopefully in time for some pork. How late can we ski?
I think ther's night skiing until they pull the plug for the torch-lite. With daylight savings time, it should be pretty good skiing although they close half the mountain at 4:30. Maybe, if the crowds are larger, they may keep the whole mountain open a little later. That's ski patrol's call.
Heading up on Saturday morning. Will be skiing Saturday, partaking in the festivities on Sat eve. then heading home Sunday morning. Hope to see everyone there!!
I look forward to skiing with you again, David. The Crazie entourage will be skiing Saturday.
Almost forgot, my buddy Marcus is doing well, out of the hospital, even played a few rounds of golf. He wanted to come to the Luau but warm weather is scaring him away. I think the lure of spring skiing will work its magic and Marc will come to his senses.
Didn't Marcus do the drop with us last year????
