OK, so rate your ski season. Mine was about normal. 13 days, snowshoe-5, wintergreen-3, beech-2, cataloochee-1, stevens pass-1, crystal mtn-1.
(stevens pass was great, crystal was awesome, btw).
Bunches at Whitetale, Liberty and Roundtop. 4 day trip to Denver, and snuck a powder day at Squaw Valley (very nice).
I skied 95% of my days in PA and the rest in WV. I skied lines I've never skied before and lines I haven't skied in over a decade. If every winter were like this last one I'd never miss the big western or northern resorts. Skiing here can be that good.
Not quite as much as last year since I blew most of my vacation on a trip to Europe in the Fall.
Roundtop - 2
Canaan Valley - 3
Timberline - 2
Elk - 4
Jack Frost - 1
Heavenly - 3
Squaw Valley - 1
Kirkwood - 1
Diamond Peak - 1
Total: 18
Best ski season yet!!! 40 days on the snow total - with most of them being powder days at tline or canaan
Already counting down for the next season...
This was the worst season ever for me, not for quality of snow, but for the fact I broke my ankle and ruptured tendons Mid-January. So for the massive blizzard dump in February and awesome conditions, I was in a walking cast. My only outing this year was to Whitetail first week of January. Bad time for an injury.
ohhhh, that does massively suck. you win the prize for worst year, hope it's getting better now. prognosis ?
Kirkwood is one my favs - actually, when I was there a few years ago it snowed so much that most of the mountain never opened. It was one of those historic snows, they could barely keep the lift loading areas cleaned out. By far the deepest snow I have ever seen. My gawd, it was great.
I got 10 days in this year. 8 at Snowshoe and 2 at Timberline.
It seemed like almost every day I was out I got to ski some powder. Some days it was knee deep, some days it was cream cheese. The last few days were some of the better spring skiing outings I've had.
Overall, I'm satisfied with the season. It was definitely a quality over quantity year, but that's ok with me...
Oh yeah, I almost forgot. I got one day in Slatyfork on XC gear. That makes 11 days for me!
Let's see.... 48 days total and most in WV. I didn't miss going elsewhere since every run I took was a new line, new run, new, new, new. If I die before next season (not that I'm planning to), I will be content with the fact that I skied the best pow-pow right here in our back yard.
With 2 young kids my days on the slopes are still somewhat limited, but I did at least make double digits:
2 Wintergreen
4 Massanutten
2 Timberline
3 Smugglers Notch
1 "Backyard" ski day after the december storm
Total: 12
3 of the Wintergreen/Massanutten days were really good mogul days. The 2 timberline days were good powder days. But the highlights of my season were being able to do a family trip to smuggs, and the fact that my 4 year old got 5 days on skis (3 smuggs, 1 wintergreen, 1 massanutten).
18 day-many of bad timing--hard to believe it was possible--but it was.
Bad timing days (weekends)
MLK at Wisp 1 good day, pouring rain the next two days.
Following weekend at CV-boiler plate except were groomed-Sun it poured.
Next weekend at Elk, super conditions, with a daily high of 3 degrees.
I was snowed in most of Feb. but did get a good weekend in at Wisp, and yes I skied more off the trails then on those two days. Worked the woods bewteen Squirel Cage and Wisp Trail and Devils Drop and The Face all weekend.
Rest of the time was at WT or Lib and conditions were very enjoyable.
Nice last day with Scootertig at TL.
So a mixed bag of really good days and really frustrating days, but I X-C skied more this year than in the past 10 years combined on my new 10th Mountains so I am not complaining.
I had taken a 9 year hiatus from skiing, so just going at all this year made it the best season in 10 years. But even for when I was skiing before, this season tops all except the one that I went to Utah for a week.
Most of my time was spent at local areas, hitting Wisp, Roundtop, Liberty, and Whitetail one time each and Wintergreen 2 days this season. I also took a short trip to the Poconos and skied at Elk, Jack Frost and Camelback one day each. So nine days total for the ski season for me.
It's getting better. I can play basketball that isn't requiring me to sprint, turn on a dime, and go 100%. Still has aching problems in the ligament/tendon areas which that should go away in another few months. If the season was on now, I could have started riding again as of end of March.
Pretty normal.
4 Wintergreen
1 Massanutten
1 Wisp
1 Breck
1 Keystone
1 A-basin
1 Beaver Creek
1 Ski Cooper
Late week to Colorado salvaged my season.
Sounds like a lot of G, PG, a good bit o PG13, not enough R, NC17.
OK, so rate your ski season.
Adults only TRIPPPLE XXX orgifantastical good as it gets day after day of snowgasims. Finally got snowed in AT the ski area, skied the hole mountain almost all season the snow off the trail was deeper than on, fell down got stuck cause there was no bottom ya deeep deep lite lite XXX snow. Jumped off a rock skied under the lifts helped lots of newbs gs-ed kestral with the frugal buzz got my [censored] kicked in some steep deep jupiter powder went back for more sure is a long last run to the parking lot from there ever take the easy way John?
Ya know the season got off to a late start that wasn't so good but mine just ended last FRiday 4/23 and the park ratz will still be getting it into May.
going up to do the yard at the Bonner Resort Hotel and plan on getting some May Day turns on creamy corn....
I understand it's still there to be consumed.
Jimmy modestly understated how good his season was.
I saw the deep on and off trail snowpack still laying around at Timberline in late March and it was pretty amazing.
Most of us old timers would have to rate this as a very special winter in the mid-Atlantic. It started a little slow in Dec and tapered off quickly in March, but Christmastime, parts of Jan, and all of Feb were sensational for the frequency and quantity of fresh snowfalls.
Personally, every season is great and precious as long as you get to ski and don't sustain a major injury.
Got a decent number of total ski days. Enjoyed tremendous mid-Atlantic skiing, mostly at Blue Knob in month of Feb. Two nice trips to New England with son; 1st week of Jan in VT and 1st week of Mar in NH.
Season Highlights: extensive exploration of rarely open advanced terrain at Blue Knob, very fun first day ever at Mad River Glen, VT, and sunny days at Wildcat and Cannon Mtn NH after recent snowfall. My teenage son got in 50 days this winter. I think that might top my biggest year back in the '70s.
Oldensign skied cooper ! I now know two of other people! Small, but worth a few hours. I want to hit their chicago ridge in really good snow.
And Vince, a teenager no less, got in 50 days? Dang. That's probably closer to my lifetime total than my yearly total
I counted 26 days this year including 2 days at White Grass and one day local X-C. White Grass was all about getting up the hill just to ski down. If we get another winter like this last one I'll plan on getting there more often. I do believe there are more maintained glades at White Grass then any other alpine resort around here and the open slopes off of Baldy look steep. So much there to explore, I can't wait to get to it.
35 days for me this season.
Liberty 16 times
Rountop 3 times
Seven Springs 2 times
Whitetail 12 times
Wisp 2 times
Jimmy skied some [censored] in Utah that I didn't think he would (or would survive) this past season. Some gnarly steep shots and rock ledges in da woods. Obviously he made it out alive, or mebbe Gretta has taken over his account....
Don't ask me why I'd lead Jimmy down some stuff that I'm not sure he would survive...
Best ever for me,
Dunno how many days, 40-50ish, counting all that sweet month-long XC weeknight bounty in the local Michaux SF. WT & WG made up most of the rest of it.
Season wasn't as good as I'd hoped. Work kinda kept me from the white stuff...
1 day Windham (NY)
1 day Bellayre (NY)
4 days Whitefish (MT)
3 Whitetail
7 Liberty
1 Timberline
Next year should be better, but no planned days out west (headed wayyyyy east, to Europe for x-mas, not sure if we'll get any skiing in).
Ironically, the "big dump" days made it hard to get to the ski areas. We skied 24" of powder after the first one, and it was great, but didn't manage to get up after that.

My sentiments exactly, Jim, about this particular season and about every season.
Definitely an awesome season for me this time. I don't think I ever skied so much and skidded so little, even when I lived in New England. (Of course that was long ago before slam-bang snowmaking and Pisten Bullies.)

Kinda a disappointing season for me, after a lot of anticipation. My Brother-in-law in NY lost his battle with cancer in February. I'm (almost) mature enough to understand that the 3 visits we made will always be special even if they came at the cost of 3 canceled ski trips.
Stowe was great, took my 19 yr old, had a great time.
Snowshoe, MLK weekend, I shoulda skied on Sunday in the rain but didn't. Monday was wonderful.
Wisp, the Friday before President's day was perfect, but we cut the weekend short to head to NY.
Then altitude sickness at Winter Park, skied 2 hours out of 3 days.
Well, I tried to have an epic season. Maybe next year.
Steve
What a season! Skied around 30 days, over half of them were powder days.
2 - Seven Springs
1 - Canaan Valley
4 - Snowbird
11+ - Wisp (didn't keep track of them, but it could have been as high as 15)
11 - Tline (includes 3 nonlift serviced days)
Some of the highlights of my season:
1. Took my 11yr old out of school to chase a storm with me.
2. Skied bottomless powder in WV on a bunch of occasions.
3. Had a blast at the Snowy Luau, got to meet some more DCskiers.
4. Took a NSP avalanche class while I was at Snowbird.
Steve - Sorry to hear about your loss.
Camp - How's the car doing?

Hopefully,
*finally*, today, I may get it back with the Viscous Coupling replaced (and covered by my insurance). It took 4 trips to 4 different shops to find the problem, and for my agent to agree that it was caused (or could've been) by the incident. The $4K worth of body damage has been fixed for a month or so. What a freeking mess. I wonder what I'll do the next time there's a windy blizzard day, and I
need to get to WT? I've been told of a couple other routes in that don't get so wind drifted. So, we'll see what, if anything, I learned from this......
I would have to rate this season as my best in the 2000's. Bumping out 2003/2004. Forty four total days down 9 from last season, but all top quality snow days. Best powder on the Laurel Ridge since 1995. Total of 13 slopes in 7 states. Only one complaint - Isn't March suppose to be a WINTER month?
Springs - 23 days (awesome Jan powder and February cover)
Okemo - 2 days (Whole Mountain and then some open)
Stowe - 1 day (post rain day crusty until 6 inches fell)
Jay - 1 day (14 inch light powder)
Smugs - 1 day (6 inch powder)
Killington - 1 day (8 degrees cold)
Gore - 2 days (light cover)
Whiteface - 1 day (bad cover)
Holimont - 1 day (exceptional)
Holiday Valley - 2 days (spring conditions)
Timberline - 2 days (best ever TL)
Jackson Hole - 4 days (packed powder and spring conditions)
Grand Targhee - 1 day (4 inches powder over crust)
Ridgeman, I see you're from lick-an-ear. We should get together and ski next season. Try to make the next get together at Blue Knob. We always have a great time. If Laurel ever reopens we can ski the Goat.
Laurel Hill Crazie,
That would be great to catch the BK outing. I always try to ski BK at its peak each year but this year BK peaked when I was at JH. I saw from the posts that it was one of the best every BK years.
Hoping to hike back to LH soon to see if anything is stirring. I did hear of lots of folks that skied and hiked Lower this past season. Friends and I bushwhacked down a power line near LH in mid January and the snow was at about 42 inches. This past season would have been a great come back season for LH.
I had a good year; it was awesome due to the amount of snow in DC, however I missed out skiing most of it. I'm not complaining, but it's just how the scheduling and selection worked out for me this year.
7 lift-served days, 2 cross/backcountry
I skied Wintergreen 1 day late after the December storm. Wet manmade snow covered any ungroomed surface and Highlands hadn't opened. I skied at Whitegrass 1 day on New Years, a day after rain and freeze cycle and the start of a week straight of snow. It was still a blast and skied some powder back on National Nordic. I skied Timberline 2 times. Once on Jan. 14th (a couple days after the lake effect shut off, but bluebird with the best packed powder ever) and again on March 4th (mostly tracked out, but some nice powder in the thickets). I skied CV 1 time on Jan. 8th. Good powder the few places CV didn't groom - woods and liftline. The biggest 'doh!' was leaving for Vermont on Feb. 10th during the 'Snoverkill' storm. Drove through ridiculous whiteout conditions from DC through all of NJ. Skied 3 days at Mt. Snow where they might have gotten 2 inches while there was bottomless powder back in the Mid-Atlantic.
The highlight of the season was skiing Mt. Marcy in the Adirondacks. It was my first NY/NE ascent and it kicked my butt. I didn't realize how hard it would be skiing down a narrow foot trail. The summit cone was sweet though.
