Last week before I become a full time working man!!!! cry

To end my free life as I know it what better way then 4 days in the sods?? Planning a 3 night Backpack in the sods this week. Plan on actually backpacking 3 days and spending one day w/o packs hiking at out leisure. Hopefully the weather is going to hold off (tues might be a little rough) to allow friends and I to have the full experience. Planning to do the full circuit (hopefully ~30 miles total + some day hiking from wherever we camp)

Ill make sure to grab some pics and post next weekend.

Langley,
Hard to believe it has been 4 years since you ventured to College Station PA. Wow...are you now a real weatherman?
Where are you planning to work, doing what?

Thanks all!!

Had a great time in the Sods.. 4th trip there and still cant believe that it is WV rather than Canada or Colorado!

My friends and I did a loop of the entire area coming to ~30 miles over 3.5 days. Luckily we missed the majority of the rain and had some fantastic weather (escaped the DC humidity). Don't have time now but am going to post a full TR hopefully w/pics!

And yes... I am now a REAL weatherman! Officially have a degree in Meteorology with a focus on Weather Risk Management and minors in Global Energy Biz and Political Sciences!! Still does not feel real that it has all come to an end but I love my time at Penn State! Highly encourage anyone looking at colleges near DC or who have kids looking for colleges int he are to look into PSU! I really cannot fathom anyone not being happy and finding a major(s)/friends/activities that fit whatever they are looking for.

As for what post-grad life, I am actually starting tomorrow at Northrop in Biz Development. Not exactly meteorology but the market is very cool (tundra like) within the field of meteo. The jobs that are available are not what I am looking for in terms of location/income/work. In a perfect world I would be working for an energy company or an ag company and working on hedging for them or advising traders. However, the world is not perfect and I am trilled to be starting at a solid company in a job that offers a great deal of potential (and is close to home).

That said, I am still a meteorologist and want to keep my forecasting skills tuned so am planning on trying and expanding the forecasts that I post next year and attempt to provide them on a weekly basis. Good thing about a real job is that my hrs will be steady, unlike school, and should be able to produce a forecast more regularly. Have not really explored it but I might try to talk to Scott about how to provide this (via forum or article) in the most expedient manor. I'll start a discussion sometime soon to get input on what ppl might want in terms of info/range/day forecast is produced.
